Can I combine parts from the FAKTUM and METOD kitchen systems?
The METOD kitchen system from IKEA has different dimensions than the former FAKTUM kitchen system. Because of this, the two systems can't be combined.
Since June 2014, IKEA has been selling the METOD kitchen system as a replacement for the old FAKTUM kitchen system. As a result, FAKTUM has been discontinued and its parts are no longer sold.You can recognise a FAKTUM kitchen by the single row of holes at the front on the inside of the cabinet. The METOD series has a double row of holes at the front on the inside of the cabinet.
Because there is still a lot of demand worldwide for FAKTUM kitchen products, you can find other suppliers online who offer FAKTUM items. These products are not produced by IKEA, but are reproductions.
Appliances
It is possible to install new IKEA kitchen appliances in your FAKTUM kitchen. However, please note that the installation instructions for new appliances are based on the METOD kitchen system. This means that the images in the manual may look different from your actual kitchen situation.
The dimensions of IKEA dishwashers haven't changed since 2014. A new IKEA dishwasher will usually have similar measurements to your old IKEA dishwasher and will therefore often fit in a FAKTUM kitchen. To be sure, compare the dimensions of your current dishwasher with those of the dishwashers in our current range. Is there a 16 cm plinth under your FAKTUM kitchen? In that case, the working height of your kitchen is not high enough for part of our current appliance range. Our kitchen specialists in the store can advise you on which appliances are suitable for your kitchen. Please also note that IKEA sells both 60 cm wide dishwashers and narrower 45 cm wide dishwashers.
Guarantee
Even though we no longer sell the FAKTUM kitchen system, our service has not changed.
If you bought your FAKTUM kitchen from IKEA on or after 1 September 2007, you are still entitled to a 25 year guarantee.
If you bought your kitchen before 1 September 2007, a 10 year guarantee period applied. That guarantee has now expired.
