What can I do if my IKEA extractor hood makes noise?
There can be several reasons why your extractor hood makes more noise than you expect. In the user manual of your extractor hood, you will find the maximum noise level that it produces. Do you feel like your extractor hood is making more noise? Our product specialists are happy to help you.
The hood is mounted with a charcoal filter on recirculation
Is your extractor hood not connected to an air outlet to the outside? Then the extractor hood will work in recirculation mode. In this mode, an extractor hood always produces more noise than an extractor hood with an outlet to the outside.
You can fix this by installing an air outlet in your home. Please contact a qualified installer for this.
The length of the drain pipe is too long
For optimal functioning of the extractor hood, the exhaust pipe should be a maximum of 3 meters long (without bends). Are there bends in the pipe? For each bend, the maximum length decreases by 1 meter. The longer the pipe, the harder the hood motor must work to move the air and the more noise it will make.
For any modifications to the drainpipe, please contact a qualified installer.
The diameter of the drainpipe or hole is too small
In the installation manual you will find information about the diameter of the flexible pipe that IKEA recommends for the extractor hood. The larger the diameter, the less noise your hood will make.
You can replace the exhaust pipe of your extractor hood with a pipe with a larger diameter. Make sure that the diameter of the drain hole in your home has at least the same diameter. If the drain hole is smaller, the noise may continue.
For adjustments to the exhaust pipe or drain hole in your home, contact a qualified installer.
Have you checked everything, has your extractor hood been installed correctly, but is it still making a lot of noise? Please contact our kitchen appliances service desk.
