What can I do if my IKEA hob makes noise?

There can be several reasons why your hob makes more noise than you expect. Our product specialists are happy to help you find the cause and solve the issue.

Is your pan suitable for the hob?
A squeaking noise may occur if you place a pan on your induction hob that is not suitable for induction or that has previously been used on a gas hob. Pans can somewhat deform after using it on a gas hob and therefore do not make sufficient contact with the cooking zone.

Check out the symbols IKEA uses to determine if your pan is suitable for your hob:

Hob on the highest setting or booster setting
If you set the hob to the highest setting or turn on the booster function, you may hear a high-pitched beep or buzz. This is usually normal: as the device consumes more power, this type of noise may occur.

Hob on the lowest setting
The hob can also produce a noise when set on the lowest setting, but unlike the high setting, this is more of a tapping sound. This is because the hob heats up and switches itself off when the desired temperature is reached, so it will not get too hot. This switching between the hob turning on and off can be heard more often on the lowest setting.

If you are sure that the device is properly installed, and the sound seems to be coming from something other than the causes listed above, please contact us.
