What do the letters on the appliances stand for?

These letters show the energy efficiency class for appliances.

The letters on the energy label show how energy-efficient an appliance is. They range from A (very efficient) to G (less efficient). Especially for appliances such as refrigerators, which run continuously, a good energy efficiency class can help save electricity and reduce environmental impact.
Here are a few tips (only in German) on how you can reduce the power consumption of refrigerators.
Since March 2021, a new energy efficiency scale has been used in the EU. The previous classes A+, A++ and A+++ were removed to make the labeling simpler and easier to understand.
Due to updated testing methods, the old classes cannot be directly compared with the new ones. Appliances that were previously rated A+++ are now often classified in classes B or C. A device with class B or C is therefore still considered very energy efficient.
Why was the labeling changed?
Since the energy label was introduced in 2001, it has helped encourage the development of increasingly energy-efficient products. The new A–G scale makes it easier for customers to compare appliances. At the same time, it leaves room for future technologies that are even more efficient.
