Temperature and humidity reading leave a lot to be desiredDanielThe temperature is only given in whole numbers so there's not a lot of resolution in an indoor environment that only varies by a maximum of 5 degrees over the course of a day or week. The displayed humidity seems to be calculated, in part, from the whole number temperature readings leading to a very "steppy" humidity reading. I expected better for $59.
The PM2.5 readout is good but that can be sourced from the VINDRIKTNING unit for $19

Works like a charmDavidMeasures the temperature, humidity and air quality and has a handy display. It's also connected to my home automation so I can track the history.5
Almost there! Need improvement!TimothyAs the follow up to the VINDRIKTNING, it's much closer to what you'd want from an air quality sensor. Improvements are; the display which gives you an actual PM2.5 number rather than the vague 3 colour system. The Temp & Humidity readings are also good additions. You can read the above data via ZigBee. Fan is also MUCH quieter than the VINDRIKTNING.
I was able to get it working in Home Assistant via a Sonoff Zigbee coordinator using Zigbee Home Automation where I can see the Temp/Hum/PM2.5 data, & it works as router.
Downsides;
While you can see the PM2.5 data, the tVOC data is not shown as a number(just & arrow on the screen) & isn't yet visible in Home Assistant.
The temp/humid readings are only in whole numbers!? Thought this would be limited to the display, but even in Home Assistant you're deprived of decimals!
The display has poor viewing angles, & the light can't be controlled remotely.
Price is too high IMHO.
Hopefully the next iteration fixes the above! Keep at it IKEA!3
Zigbee Router Functionality is PoorColinThis device functions as a Zigbee Router, however it performs this function badly. Ikea should make it possible to turn this secondary functionality off. This failure, and the failure to be able to control the display remotely, makes me derate this product's quality. It's just software, guys, you can probably do better2
Great product, poor valueMichaelWhilst the product is solidly built, and pairing process for supported Smart Homes is easy, there were key areas of the product Ikea can do better on to deliver real value and performance to meet expectations.
1) Display performs poorly in daylight: Despite having a large display, it cannot be easily read at a distance with perfect or corrected eyesight. You need to be within 1m to 1.5m of the device to clearly read it in daylight conditions.
2) Sensor resolution: The temperature and humidity sensors only measure and publish data to the nearest whole number. Whilst this is great for the display; when you’re using it in a Smart Home, and especially where you’re wanting accurate data to react to climate changes, or monitoring averages of the whole home, this isn’t great.
Ideally, a future version should use a better temperature and humidity sensor that measures to two decimal places; OR if the existing sensor can already do this - release a software update without delay.3
Does what it says andPeterDoes what it says and easy to use.5
Has potential MattI’ve been using this now for a while and I love the design, display and build quality. Seems very accurate in measurements!
I’m just a super disappointed with how limited in capability it is though. For example I’m instructed to “turn on my FÖRNUFTIG air purifier” when the air quality reading is poor.. why couldn’t I just automate this with one of my connected IKEA smart switches?
Why can’t I see a VOC reading through the Home Smart app? Why can’t I see a historical graph of the readings?
I understand IKEA wants to make smart devices for an every day person, but these aren’t big asks for a new smart product in 2023. I’m hoping for some big firmware updates to improve some very good hardware, otherwise this might be a return. 3
Requires air purifier to work with smart systemsCarolineI could have read more online before purchasing, you should know that while the display on the product does not require any other device, you will need the IKEA air purifier for this to provide information into your smart system.3
works as indicated, but the smart home features are questionableDarrylI'm not sure why all the manufacures can not agree on a home automation standard. There is no way to connect this to google nest/amazon so now you need a 3rd home automation system to use it. Even if it had minimal remote web access it would be better4
Pretty goodOwenLooks great, easy to read display. Works well as a bedroom temperature & air quality monitor.
It’s unfortunate it will only report temperature in whole numbers, and tVOC is not reported numerically at all. The display is very bright on its auto-off setting and it doesn’t appear this can be changed.
I’m not sure I would buy another given the lack of decimal place resolution for temperature, however I do think this is a good product for monitoring PM2.5, especially at this price point.3
Needs firmware modColinThis unit provides good functionality. However, it should be possible to remotely turn the LED backlight on and off via Zigbee. The screen is unreadable without the backlight, and I need to be able to automate the backlight to draw attention to significant states of air quality and tVOC. Since this device is powered, there is no good reason not to provide this functionality. Please provide an update.4
Google Assistant integration is poorBobThe unit seems to work well on its own, but that's not why I purchased it. I got it as an IOT sensor, to work with Google Assistant. Humidity reports as expected. Temperature only reports on the Assistant dashboard, and only on my Pixel phone, not Chromebook. Air Quality show only on the unit display. On the Ikea app, the temperature only reports as Fahrenheit. The unit LCD favours it sitting on a desk, with you looking down; so sitting on a cabinet near the ceiling makes the LCD look faded. So it kind of works, but I can't recommend it, and it's not exactly cheap so you would expect something much better this.2
immediate and HA integratedMichaelThis product filled a gap by providing both a visual guide to the values read (temp, humidity and ppm) in a room with a log fire. integration into Home Asisstant was a breeze and as a mains power device it also acts as a router in the home zigbee network.5
