Sarah started off the project by studying how people with physical limitations move, and what their needs are. “It often feels good to be able to hold on to something with your hand. That’s why we developed the wall-mounted towel rail and shower shelf. But the step stools and the shower chair are stable and grip-friendly supports, too.” The shower chair can also add a bit of everyday luxury: imagine sitting comfortably and steadily and feeling the warm water pouring over your body.

Try before you buyDanielleThis is a fantastic, non-medical looking device and exactly the direction accessibility design needs to be going - function and style. But it would be fantastic if there was either another design or an option with higher handles to help people stand from sitting. Adjustable height would also be a good feature.
This was purchased online and we ended up returning because it just didn’t quite fit our needs. I can see that it does meet other people’s needs. Hopefully more designs will be released in the future

sturdy + lightweight Sarahi got this shower chair as i have been struggling with mobility issues since i was diagnosed with multiple chronic illnesses. this has been one of the most useful purchases i have ever made (i'm not kidding). it's lightweight so it can be moved in and out of the shower easily, but it feels super sturdy when using it. the back support is perfect - it's there if you need it, but doesn't feel like it gets in the way at all which is great. i didn't want a shower chair that looked like it was from a hospital, so this is perfect. i would recommend this to anyone who struggles with mobility issues/chronic illnesses, it has made showering a million times easier!

Our BÄSINGEN product series is there for convenient support when you need it the most. Designed for the bathroom, but just as useful throughout the home.
Life at home is in constant change, and the needs can shift quickly. “Maybe you pushed extra hard in the gym and woke up feeling all stiff. Then you might need a little extra support and help with the simplest everyday things. Like taking a shower,” says designer Sarah Fager.

The products were created to take up little space and have a minimalistic expression that is rooted in our Scandinavian design tradition. “They should blend in regardless of your style and shouldn’t be something you need to put away or hide.” Sarah hopes that the series will make a difference in the everyday life of many people. “This was one of my most challenging design projects because it was about meeting needs that were new to me. But this also made it one of my most enlightening projects. I wish BÄSINGEN will be something you can live with for a long time. Maybe you will use the products a bit less during certain periods in life, but they are always close at hand, ready to provide support.”
