Are standing desks better for you?

Being able to shift positions when using a desk is key to avoiding back, neck and leg pain, and a fixed or adjustable standing desk can help with this.

They also allow you to reduce the time you spend sitting. This can be great for your health, as too much sitting can have adverse health effects.

Do standing desks burn calories?

They do – but only slightly more than when you’re sitting. The main advantage of using a standing desk is that it prevents you from sitting for long periods. This, plus changing positions frequently, is good for your neck and back. If you want to burn more calories, we recommend taking a short, brisk walk at lunchtime.
