Wall decor

Let’s put down our phones and put up frames to show off our favourite photos for a change! All it takes is a picture and frame. We have loads of colours and sizes to choose from to make your home instantly more you. There’s picture ledges, display boxes and art prints to mix into your wall décor, too.

Five inspiring ways to use picture ledges

Make an artful display of your favourite things with picture ledges. You can swap around artwork, books, and souvenirs anytime, so your walls look fresh. They’re practical for small spaces too; their narrow width is handy for hallway storage for your hats, bags, and small items.

Want your life and favourite memories to be a part of your décor? Frames are a simple way to bring the faces and places you love into any room of your home. From special milestones and family adventures to treasured times with friends, a nice picture frame can help highlight, contrast or tie your photos in with the rest of your interior design.

Frames for every size, style and need

We offer a selection of different frame styles, shapes and colours. Some are more basic and are available in sizes from A6 (10.5 cm x 14.8 cm) up to A1 (59.4 cm x 84.1 cm). Our more ornately designed frames are fixed in size. These styles can add just as much impact to the décor as the picture or photo they display.

When choosing the colour and style of the frame, think about where you want it to go. To accentuate and draw attention to your picture or photo, we recommend using a frame in a contrasting colour. For example, a black picture frame stands out on a bright wall, while a white or silver frame does a good job of making your picture pop on a darker surface.

Understanding the different paper sizes

Getting to grips with paper sizes is essential when you want to frame your favourite print or photo. Paper is measured in metric ‘A sizes’, most commonly ranging from A9 (smallest) to A0 (biggest). An easy way to understand it is to remember that every time the number decreases, the paper size doubles. For example, A3 is two times bigger than A4, and A4 is two times bigger than A5, and so on.

Here’s a size guide to help you, measured in centimetres:

  • A0 = 84.1 cm x 118.9 cm
  • A1 = 59.4 cm x 84.1 cm
  • A2 = 42.0 cm x 59.4 cm
  • A3 = 29.7 cm x 42.0 cm
  • A4 = 21.0 cm x 29.7 cm
  • A5 = 14.8 cm x 21.0 cm
  • A6 = 10.5 cm x 14.8 cm
  • A7 = 7.4 cm x 10.5 cm
  • A8 = 5.2 cm x 7.4 cm
  • A9 = 3.7 cm x 5.2 cm

The number one priority when choosing a frame, is that it’s larger than the picture you want it to hold. For a nice, tight fit it’s important to get the frame size as close as possible. You can also go for a much larger one and add a picture mount to play around with the perspective.

Adjust the frame size with a picture mount

A picture mount is a bit like a secondary frame, inside the frame. It’s a piece of paper or cardboard that sits between your picture and the glass of the frame. It’s used both for decoration and to prevent your photo from touching the glass.

When framing small prints in large picture frames, a picture mount can be quite striking.

And if you’re struggling to find a frame to fit a smaller print or photo, don’t panic. A picture mount lets you display them easily in larger frames.

A lot of the frames we sell already include picture mounts. But they can always be removed if you’d prefer not to use them. All the information and measurements you need can be found in each frame’s product description.
