How do I buy a kitchen at IKEA?

We will make it as easy as possible for you! Get inspired, measure your room, create a design, order your kitchen, install it (or have it installed) – and finally enjoy living in your kitchen!

A kitchen purchase requires careful attention to detail. That's why each kitchen purchase consists of a number of steps. You can decide to do most of them by yourself, but please have your planning controlled by a kitchen specialist before purchasing.
1. Get inspired
The IKEA kitchen range covers every design preference from a sleek and modern high-tech kitchen to a traditional one with beautiful natural materials. You can get inspired online or in one of our stores. If you need support to navigate our range, don't hesitate to book a planning appointment with our kitchen specialists. The appointment can be online or in a store.
2. Measure your space
When it comes to kitchen, every millimeter counts. You need to be sure of your whole space, including windows, doors, radiators or any other obstruction. If you want to take the measurements by yourself, please follow our measurement instructions. We can also help you with our measuring service, in combination with a planning appointment, in a store or online.
3. Design your kitchen
This is where dreams meet reality! Based on your measurements and chosen kitchen (METOD, ENHET or KNOXHULT), you can design your kitchen online in our kitchen planners. You can of course also plan an appointment with us. This is also the moment when you need to set your budget for your project. We have different kitchen ranges for different wallet sizes. We also have some financing options here.
4. Order your kitchen
Take some time to consider your options. We encourage you to make a well-informed decision. We also advise you to order your kitchen with the help of our specialists. If you haven't yet, please book an appointment with us. You will also have to decide if you want to have it delivered and installed, or if you prefer to do it all by yourself. We're also here to help if you need the disposal of your current kitchen. The completion duration between ordering and receiving your kitchen depends on many variables (partners' availability need for custom-made products), but you should expect around 10 weeks.
5. Make room for new
Receiving your new kitchen will use up a lot of space. Please secure that the room is as empty and free as possible. The way to the room needs also to be freed up, so that you or the delivery company can carry big furniture or electrical appliances. Of course the same applies to the way to your house or flat: if you have a delivery, the way for the delivery truck needs to be ready.
6. Install your kitchen
If you opted for the installation service, then it's all in our partners' hands. If you prefer to build the kitchen by yourself, you can have a look at our kitchen assembly guide.
7. Enjoy life in your new kitchen
We hope you have a lot of memorable moments in your kitchen and that you can enjoy it for a long time!
