People & Planet

IKEA Quebec participates in the Mira Foundation cartridge recovery program

Every month, the MIRA Foundation collects about fifty empty printer cartridges - generated by the Quebec store - for their recovery program. In addition to taking a concrete action for the environment, this initiative also funds Mira dog training.

Founded in 1981, Mira is a non-profit organization offering free guide dogs and assistance dogs to people living with visual and motor impairments as well as young people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

All cartridges pass through the warehouse of the Mira Foundation in Neuville. They are sorted and sold to recyclers. Non-recyclable cartridges are destroyed in an environmentally responsible way. The cardboard and plastic generated by the shipments are also recycled.

Québec co-workers also contribute to this great cause by disposing of the cartridges used at home.
