How IKEA planning and consultation service works
- Get inspired by spending time on IKEA.ca and playing with all our free online planning tools. Take notes on which styles, colors, products, and ideas you like so it’s easier for us to understand what designs and looks you prefer.
- Choose a need. Do you want help with a space or a whole room? A particular furniture system? For your home or business? Browse the furnishing areas below to find the planning service you need.
- Book an appointment using the related link below. You can choose an online or in-store appointment.
- Measure and list. We’ll need details about the space or room. Record measurements of height, width, and depth as well as positions/dimensions of electrical outlets, doors, windows, etc. Make a list of your needs.
- Bring your measurements, list of needs, and style notes to the appointment. A drawing or photo of the space is useful, too. We’ll discuss layouts and solutions to create a plan and a shopping list.
- Take time to assess the plan and next steps. Do you need to make changes? Start over? Buy now? When you’re ready, visit us online or in-store to order.

Business services
Business design consultation
Start with a free one-hour online or in-store consultation, let us help you find the right planning service for your business needs. In this design consultation, an IKEA for Business specialist can provide product and simple design furnishing advice, including service recommendations.
Business purchase support
This free service will include a 30 to 60-minute appointment with an IKEA for Business co-worker, where you will receive help with purchasing products, and services and placing business orders.
Business planning
This $19.99 per hour service, is for business customers who need planning support before purchasing. The IKEA Business sales co-worker will select and combine the complete planning and layout of the selected area, to complement your business needs.
Business design
For $129, our IKEA Designers will create the room of your dreams. Which will include initial business consultation, planning, and complete design. When you book an appointment, you will get advice on how to redesign a room in your home, a convenient layout plan, beautiful materials, and functional lighting. This total package includes a mood board, floor plan, perspective drawings, furniture and accessory collages, a lighting plan, product quotations, business furnishing tips, and more.
Appointment duration: 90 minutes
Design and preparation time: Approximately 8 hours

Wish you lived in a space designed by IKEA? With our home design service, you can! We can help you solve a smaller problem (taming cables, arranging furniture, choosing colors/materials, tailoring lighting) or design a complete interior (an organized family bathroom, a cottage-style bedroom). You’ll get things like mood boards and 3D sketches. The service is conducted remotely and available for homes or businesses.

You can book an online appointment with one of our kitchen experts on IKEA.ca. To book an online appointment you will need internet access, a desktop, tablet or mobile device.
In-home planning service is not available. You can only book an in-store or online planning service appointment.
