Classic Swedish meatball sandwich
This delicious meatball sandwich with creamy, crunchy, pickled beetroot salad – a classic Swedish flavor combo – is perfect for a light lunch or hearty family snack.

Ingredients:
Classic Swedish meatball sandwich
- 300 g (ca 20) HUVUDROLL meatballs
- Beetroot salad (see ingredients below)
- 4 slices of rye bread
- 2 tbsp butter
- 4 lettuce leaves
- Oil for frying
- Parsley, finely chopped
Beetroot salad
- 300 g pickled beetroot
- 50 ml mayonnaise
- 100 ml sour cream
- Salt & Pepper
Step by step
- Dice the beetroot and mix it with mayonnaise and sour cream in a bowl. Salt and pepper to taste.
- Fry the meatballs according to the package instructions.
- To assemble the sandwiches, spread the bread slices with butter and place a lettuce leaf on top.
- Top the lettuce leaf with the beetroot salad and meatballs. Sprinkle some finely chopped parsley over the sandwich.
Tip!
Add extra flavour to the beetroot salad by mixing in some coarse ground mustard, dijon, finely chopped apple, capers, or freshly grated horseradish. These ingredients will complement the flavor of the beetroot salad perfectly.
