If you’ve ever struggled with complicated curtain rail systems you’ll appreciate this one. It’s easy to assemble and it’s very flexible, so you can hang curtains even in the trickiest spaces.

Product details

The rail can be mounted to the wall or ceiling using appropriate fittings.

The ceiling fittings are included, wall fittings are sold seperately.

The rail can be cut to the desired length with a hacksaw.

You can add the rail to a single layer combination to create a double layer combination.

You can use the included connectors to connect the rail to ceiling or wall fittings, or to another rail to extend it.

Good to know

1 single track rail (length 140 cm), 2 ceiling fittings, 2 connectors and 2 end caps.

2 ceiling or wall fittings are needed for one 140 cm track rail. To build a longer track rail, add another wall fitting for every 140 cm for stability; sold separately.

Wall fittings and screws are not included.

Max. load: 5 kg.

When mounting ceiling brackets/fittings ensure a distance from the wall to allow opening/closing your curtain without obstacles like a protruding window sill, radiator or window handle getting in the way.

May be completed with 1 or more VIDGA glider and hook/24 pack to create more pleats.

Ceiling brackets not fit for purposeBrianaOnly two ceiling brackets included and they can’t hold the weight of a curtain in a gyprock ceiling. Needs to include twice as many at least. No spare part available for purchase. Joiner parts flimsy and the curtains don’t slide along them from one section to another with any ease.1

Rubbish - fell downKylieOn what planet do 2 screws hold up the weight of even sheer lightweight curtains ?! Installed following instructions to the letter. As I walked out of the room thinking ‘job done’ they fell down. I’d hung lightweight sheer linen curtains bought from ikea.1

Finicky jointsDavidOverall we've been very happy with IKEA's curtains offerings, including this VIDGA system, with a significant exception being how precisely rails need to be aligned for the gliders to pass through joints smoothly. The provided connectors don't do a good job at this. I highly recommend getting 3D printed connectors that fit flush into the upper part of the rails and ensure a perfect fit - since switching to these the rails have worked flawlessly. I hope that IKEA will consider adjusting their included connectors to be more like this out of the box.3
Fantastic ceiling track systemMarcusI Used these to hang curtains from the ceiling and I genuinely love them. Such a simple but elegant solution compared to wall mounted rods. The hook and gliders are a little fiddly and time consuming to install but once it’s done it’s great. I do find the glider gets stuck over the join which is a little annoying and I hope ikea can invent something that can help the glider smooth over the join better/or invent a centre stopper so the curtains can meet and stop in the middle at the join.5

Perfect solutionMarkI have tried several curtain rod solutions for my 5.2m wide sliding doors, and have only found the Vidga system to offer this continuous run of smooth sliding tracks with this clever overhead hood solution every 140cm track length. Perfect solution for my requirement with a great balance between price and quality.5
Why change?TerryI was completely happy with Kvartal having installed a number of these curtain tracks over the years. A near precision product of metal, grub screws and Allen keys, replaced now by a cheaper to produce (obviously) plastic connector/support system. Not happy with the fiddly flexible locking system nor was the 90 degree curve I bought, actually that. More like 85 which results in a clunky tracking of curtains around the bend (where it almost sent me). So, Ikea QC, check the supplier of curves for their product quality. I unhesitatingly would give Kvartal 5 stars in all categories, I grudgingly give Vidga 3.3
Excellent systemAnonymous reviewerAfter years of curtain rods from IKEA, we had a few issues (plastic rods wearing down and not allowing smooth curtain ring movement, large windows needing extra supports but this stops curtain movement). I have just upgraded to the VIDGA system and it is far superior for several reasons, and I wish we just started here! Allows curtain rails to be continuous for large windows/doors that we have in our house. You can have several supports and it does not affect curtain flow. Smooth curtain movement and curtain pleating that looks professional. Instructions aren't great for continuous curtains (I used 4 brackets on large windows) as it says max 135cm between brackets but that forces you to shorten the middle tracks a few cm which you might not want to do. Plan ahead when designing your window and it's an excellent system. Instructions don't show assembly of the end pieces which have a screw and nut inside them which are supposed to come pre-assembled but tend to fall out.5
Glides like silkZoeUpgrading from an old Ikea regular curtain railing with rings, which was clunky. This is so much better, even with big/long/heavy curtains it's so smooth. Am concerned the 2 plastic ceiling hooks aren't going to stand the test of time, but will see4
