Very sensible cabinet setupPeterI purchased the Metod wall mounted cabinet and mounting rail to use in my home office. The cabinet was easy to build a and the mounting rail secures it very firmly to the wall. The only small issue I had was mounting the quite short piece of rail needed. Because the cabinet is near a corner and the rail section is short, I only had two studs to use. Both of these were quite close to the ends of the rail. This required some very accurate cutting of the rail relative to the securing holes. It needed to be millimetre perfect. I did manage this but it took quite a bit more work than I expected to get the cabinet mounted in the right location.

Not great if you have timber framed walls Anonymous reviewerI have used this rail to install a Kitchen onto solid masonry walls before and it was fantastic. This is the first time I have tried it in a building with timber frame construction. Unfortunately there are some serious design flaws when you try and use it for this application. Firstly the instructions say you must screw the rail on every 300 mm. Standard timber frame stud spacing is 450 mm, so you cannot comply with what IKEA Requested. Secondly, the pre-drilled holes, almost never lineup where you have a stud. This means you have to drill your own holes which also can we can weaken the bar. Finally, the depth of the bar, when combined with the position of the back panel of the cupboard means you have a 20 mm gap between the back of the cupboard and the wall. This proved to be a problem for installing services, such as power points and taps inside the cupboard as there is nothing solid to screw into. Everything requires a large packer.

A kitchen that took us around the world
Whatever your dream kitchen is, it’s probably different from many other people’s dreams. This we learned when researching kitchen desires around the globe. Our conclusion for the METOD kitchen system: it should make it possible to design the best kitchen for you – whatever your preferences and living situation.
Our ambition is to help as many as possible to have a kitchen they'd love to be in. We started sketching. “When we created METOD, it was our biggest ever kitchen change, so it's fair to say we were very keen to get it right,” says technician Klas-Ola Nilsson.

One element became blindingly important. “We realized we needed a kitchen system that could adapt to different sized spaces in a way that hadn't been done before,” Klas-Ola says. “So, we developed cabinets that could fit almost anywhere.” Different sizes can be mixed to best fit the room and they'll still fit together – without odd ends. The clever inside can be personalized to support your kitchen needs and activities, too.
