A better world starts at home
There’s no better place to start living more sustainably than your place. Because the smaller our footprints, the greater the good for the planet we all share.
How to make your little world a better place
What is ‘more sustainable cotton’?
Since 2015, all IKEA cotton has been either recycled or grown with less water and pesticides while increasing profits for the cotton farmers. Our work provides farmers with better water management practices, helping areas that are subject to erosion and water scarcity. Choosing responsibly sourced cotton means creating a better quality of life for the farmers’ families – from increased access to clean water to schooling for their children.
A new lease on life
When we create products from recycled polyester, PET bottles and other sources of polyester get a new life in products like textiles, storage boxes, kitchen fronts and even lamps. When using them, you get to enjoy the same quality as with virgin polyester products, while using less new raw materials.
Safe and sound
We work hard to make sure that our products are free from harmful chemicals, and proactively phase out potentially harmful chemicals – often ahead of legislation.
When buying toys or bed linen, you can trust that they don't contain any harmful chemicals like toxic or allergenic dyestuffs, toxic solvents, formaldehyde or APEO.
Let nothing go to waste
By 2030, we want all materials in our products to be recycled or renewable, and sourced in responsible ways.
Roll-packed – not just easy to take home
Many of our mattresses and all mattress pads come roll-packed. This saves space and costs less to transport, allowing us to also reduce our carbon footprint by having fewer trucks on the road. We then pass our cost savings on to you with a product that’s much easier for you to fit in your car, too. It’s a win-win.
