Protect the planet
The energy from the sun is a free and unlimited resource with little impact on the environment. By harnessing solar energy to power your home, you can lower your carbon emissions considerably – and protect our planet for generations to come.
How solar works
Here’s a handy diagram that will show you the basics of how a solar system works.
Solar modules (panels) on your roof convert sunlight into DC electricity. A solar inverter then converts the DC electricity into AC electricity for home use. Electric appliances and devices in your house will utilise the AC from the solar power system first and draw electricity from the grid if you need more. If you are producing excessive power, this is returned to the grid.

Your quote from Solargain will provide an estimation of how much your new solar system will save on your power bills, considering your average power consumption and the tariffs in your area. A key financial consideration when switching to solar is the ‘payback period’, which means the savings you make on your bills will ‘payback’ the investment you make in the system over a few years. When you get your quote from Solargain, they will help you roughly calculate what this payback period will be.
- Two of your most recent power bills
- Have a look at your roof before you call, and find out the roof type, height, etc.
The purchase of home solar includes several guarantees and warranties from Solargain and the manufacturer. The product guarantee and warranties on the various components are follows:

Solargain will also provide labour at its cost to remedy defects covered by manufacturer's warranties for 5 years from the date of installation.
25-year manufacturer product warranty on solar panels
Manufacturer product workmanship warranty of 25-years from the date of installation will be offered on solar panels
10-year manufacturer product warranty on inverters and mounting systems
Manufacturer product warranty of 10 years from the date of installation will be offered on inverters and mounting systems.
25-year manufacturer warranty on solar panel nominal rated power output

Currently home solar is available in all Australian metro areas (excluding TAS and NT) for customers within 100 km of an IKEA store in all states and territories where IKEA is present.
To keep prices as low as possible, at this stage the offer will not be available to customers who live long distances from our IKEA stores. In the long term, we would like to find opportunities to deliver to more regions.
If you’re not currently in our service area, please still register your interest online, and Solargain will contact you as soon as the service area is extended.
This is the most common system size sold in Australia. That’s because a 5kW inverter is generally the largest inverter you can install without losing a feed in tariff or implementing export limits.
We strongly encourage getting a personalised quote as the recommended size for your home may be smaller or larger. It depends on your consumption pattern, space on your roof, budget, interest in adding battery, the maximum size you are allowed to connect into the grid, among other things.
A personalized quote will also help in determining what system size will be relevant for your home to ensure maximum financial return. Click here to input your details and Solargain will contact you to create your own personalised quote
