  • This furniture must be secured to the wall with the enclosed wall anchoring device.Handle with care! A damaged edge or scratched surface can cause the glass to suddenly crack and/or break. Avoid collisions from the side - this is where the glass is most vulnerable.
  • By using particle board with a slice of wood as top layer instead of only solid wood in this product, we use less wood per product. That way, we take better care of resources.

We want to have a positive impact on the planet. That is why by 2030, we want all materials in our products to be recycled or renewable, and sourced in responsible ways.

An excellent cabinet for displayingCoreyAn excellent cabinet for displaying collectibles and not having to worry about dust5
Looks out of a magazine!JackI love, love the look of this piece. The look is high end with the glass and brass accents. I bought 2 for my living room. It took me and my daughter a little over 2 hours each. On the first one the soft door closes perfect. The second one jammed every time you open the doors and it’s not as smooth. We had to mess with the bottom rolling metal wheels on the doors quite a few times before it was better but still not perfect. With that said I would purchase these again. You can’t find a piece like this for this price anywhere else.3

Excellent for classy vinyl storageRebekah R.I bought two of these for my music room. They are storing 600 vinyl records and other items. They could probably hold three times that amount. The quality of materials in these cabinets is top notch. I didn’t even realize that IKEA made products of this caliber. The finish on the black wood grain looks amazing and looks very much like real wood. The metal handles and soft close close doors really finish off the premium look and feel. I bought some cheap Amazon led puck lights and put one on each shelf and it works really good. Finally, the assembly was straightforward and moderately detailed. Me and my husband assembled both cabinets in around two hours and had no issues.5
MALSJO Joy!ElijahThe pieces look stunning! The four pieces are well constructed, and showcase the crystal and art we have collected. All pieces were assembled by Taskrabbit.5

Great product! Will need extraJEREMIAHGreat product! Will need extra parts (which are currently out of stock).5
Cheap components and the designKeithCheap components and the design needs to be improved to make it stronger. Why overpriced for what you get.3
Great pieceNancyWonderfully made!5
Beautiful & UniqueChelseaWonderful unique looking piece! Quality is great and the sliding glass doors provide a library feel. We bought three, and they look beautiful. Getting the back on was definitely a two person job, but otherwise they went together quite smoothly.5
Beautiful Display Cabinet!EarlI’ve been wanting to purchase the Malsjö cabinet for months. It took me that long to purchase it because it was always out of stock! After getting it assembled and working, it was so well worth the wait! It’s absolutely beautiful and displays things so very well!5
Perfect Cabinet for Tight SpacesLynNitaWe gave my daughter the family heirloom china and the gigantic china cabinet from our livingroom for her new home, and kept some serving pieces I really used. So we still needed a cabinet, but the diningroom space was tight. The soft-close sliding glass doors allow us to access our pieces without banging into chairs. Plus the super strong wood shelves support the heavy pieces, such as the crystal cake plate and salad bowls. The cabinet color goes well with our charcoal-colored appliances. We are super pleased with our purchase!5
Upscale IKEA!!BrandyI bought 2 of these for very different rooms. The doors are sturdy and the handles are comfortable. It looks beautiful-normal ikea put together (you either love that or not. 😉) It doesn’t look or feel like some of the lighter IKEA-this finishes a room and adds storage while looking quite nice. The soft close doors are a fantastic bonus. Be careful when opening as the doors open easily and slide quickly. Absolutely gorgeous.5
Good, but not great!CHRISTINEIt’s a solid display case, but even after several adjustments the doors do not open smoothly.4
Beautiful design, can't believe it's IKEA!hwong2I bought this for my fiance to house his whiskey and liquor collection. I spent weeks searching for antique display cabinets and happened to stumble upon this one. This cabinet is designed INCREDIBLY well. The glass wrapping around 3 sides of the cabinet is unique and the soft close of the sliding doors is very satisfying to experience. The cabinet makes a statement in the living room, but does so in a discreet and elegant manner. The only hiccup I had with assembly is that the right door is off center and is not flush with the frame when closed so be diligent with making sure all your angles are square and that all surfaces are level when assembling. It's not noticeable to the naked eye so I decided to leave it as is. Overall, this cabinet is the best on the market amongst any popular furniture site. You won't regret paying a bit more than what we're used to with IKEA prices. Eventually, I think I will buy the TV console in the same collection to match!5
Heavy, very niceTsukidesuHesitant on buying at first, but so glad I did. Very nicely made. Heavy. I really liked it over other cabinets because they have lacing system to hold up the shelves, making it look and feel sturdier than almost every other display cabinet. I wish I had space to fit another one. Wish it came in different colors.5
ExcellentJCH41I scoured the ends of the internet to find a sliding door glass cabinet with depth that didn't cost a fortune and weren't bookshelf height. This one checked all the boxes. We bought two and put them together after seeing them displayed that way on the showroom floor. They were not hard to put together, though several steps would have been easier to do with a partner, I put them together myself. No one believes they are IKEA. They look like more expensive furniture and have perfect function in my space. LOVE them.5
Classic display cabinet!Jean WPurchased in August. Assembly instructions were clear. Door and glides are well made. NICE soft close feature. Suggestion: label the shelf FRONT and BACK. The difference is hardly noticeable...until you attempt to insert the back piece after putting the shelf in the wrong way. We will add a light kit soon, as it will highlight our collection.5
Very Nice Cabinet!LoriSheaThis is exactly what I have been looking for. Beautiful cabinet to showcase my liquor collection.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
