How does the IKEA kitchen measure visit work?
Our kitchen measure visit is a straightforward process designed to provide you with the accurate foundation you need for your kitchen plan. Here is a step-by-step guide to how it works, from initial consideration to having a complete set of measurements ready for your design.
- Get inspired: Start dreaming and researching by browsing our kitchen inspiration galleries or experimenting with our online kitchen planners.
- Ensure the space is "Measure-Ready": The kitchen must be prepared for accurate measurements. Walls and ceilings must be finished (e.g., plasterboard applied). All plumbing, gas, and electrical connections must be in their final positions. Preferably, your old kitchen must already have been removed, although this is not a requirement. The area must be clear and safe for the technician to work in.
- Booking: You can book your appointment online through our online booking tool or by speaking with a co-worker in the kitchen department of an IKEA store.
- Pay for the service: The service has a fixed price €129,-.
- Planning the appointment: After booking and paying the service, the measurement technician will contact you within 7 working days to plan the visit. The measuring visit usually takes place within 2 to 6 weeks.
- Changes and cancellations: If your plans change, you can reschedule or cancel your appointment. Simply select the "cancel" option in the email you received when you paid for your appointment online. This must be done at least 48 hours in advance to be eligible for a refund.
- Confirmation: You will be contacted by the measurement technician at least 24 hours prior to your appointment for final confirmation of the time and address.
- Prepare your requirements or restrictions: Be ready to point out any hidden items that could impact the design (e.g., concealed pipes) and make the technician aware of any other restrictions, such as where to park or how to find the address.
- Arrival and duration: The technician will arrive at the start of your appointment. The visit may take up to 120 minutes, depending on the complexity of your kitchen.
- What the technician does: The technician will take photos and collect all necessary details, including room dimensions, the location of windows, doors, obstacles, and all utility connections (water, gas, electricity, and ventilation).
- Your role: Please be available to point out any hidden features and answer any questions the technician may have.
- Confirmation of service: Upon completion, you will be asked to sign a form to confirm the measurement service was completed to your satisfaction.
- Receiving your measurements: Within 24 hours of the appointment, your kitchen's precise measurements will be shared with you and with IKEA.
- Next steps: You can now book a kitchen planning appointment with one of our IKEA kitchen specialists to start designing your dream kitchen. Alternatively, you can go to our online kitchen planners and confidently begin creating your perfect kitchen design based on the measurements provided.
