What covering panels do I need for a METOD kitchen island?
The number and type of covering panels you need with your METOD kitchen island depends on the depth of the base cabinets. Below you can read about the different possible combinations.
- Which cover panels do I need for a METOD kitchen island?
- METOD base units 60 cm deep, back to back
For kitchen islands where the 60 cm deep METOD base units are placed back to back without any gaps, use two 62 cm deep covering panels. Shorten one of the side panels by 2 cm in depth (i.e. to 60 cm). Do you want the seam between the panels to be exactly in the middle? Then shorten both panels 1 cm in depth (to 61 cm).
Please note that if the white spaceholders are used on the back of the kitchen cabinets, there is a 2 cm gap. The side covering panels do not need to be shortened. - METOD base units 1x 60 cm deep and 1x 40 cm deep, back to back
In kitchen islands where METOD base units of 60 cm deep are placed back to back against base units of 40 cm deep, use a covering panel of 62 cm deep and one of 39 cm deep.
Please note that if the white spaceholders are used at the rear of the kitchen cabinets, there is a 2 cm gap. The side covering panels do not need to be shortened. - METOD floor units 40 cm deep, back to back
With kitchen islands of base units 40 cm deep, use two covering panels of 39 cm deep. If the cabinets are placed back to back without any gap, shorten one of the two side panels in depth by 2 cm (to 37 cm), or both panels by 1 cm (to 38 cm).
Please note that if the white spaceholders are used at the back of the kitchen cabinets, there is a 2 cm gap. The side covering panels do not need to be shortened.
You can also cover the rear of a METOD base cabinet with a covering panel. To do this use the METOD kitchen island assembly kit.
