The flexible and strong plastic material is common in our homes and is usually produced from fossil, non-renewable raw materials like oil and natural gas. Since recycled polypropylene has similar characteristics to the virgin material, we at IKEA have chosen to gradually switch to using recycled polypropylene ─ without compromising on safety or quality.
