How does Scan & Pay work?

With Scan & Pay in the IKEA app, you can scan products as you shop and pay for your purchase at a designated Scan & Pay checkout. This helps you avoid queuing at the regular checkout.

How it works:

  1. Download the IKEA app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Activate Scan & Pay by scanning the QR code at the store entrance or another designated location. You can also open Scan & Pay directly in the IKEA app.
  3. Scan the barcode of each product as you shop and add the products to your bag or trolley.
  4. When you have finished shopping, go to the Scan & Pay checkouts in the checkout area, after the self-service furniture area.
  5. Scan your Scan & Pay QR code, choose your payment method and complete your purchase.
 

How do I activate Scan & Pay?

Open the IKEA app and select Scan & Pay from the main menu.
In the latest version of the IKEA app, you can find Scan & Pay in your profile. Your IKEA store must be selected before you can use the service.

Can I use Scan & Pay without an IKEA profile or IKEA Family membership?

Yes. You can use Scan & Pay as a guest without creating a profile or joining IKEA Family.
If you use a personal IKEA profile, you can view your orders, purchases and personal information in the app. If you are an IKEA Family member, we recommend that you log in to receive your IKEA Family benefits automatically.

Do I need an internet connection to use Scan & Pay?

Yes. You need Wi-Fi or mobile data to create the Scan & Pay QR code used for payment.
You can connect to the available IKEA store network. If you do not have a smartphone or experience connection problems, please ask an IKEA co-worker for help completing your purchase.

How many products can I buy with Scan & Pay?

There is no stated quantity limit. You can use Scan & Pay to purchase the IKEA products you need, including:
  • Furniture
  • Home furnishing accessories
  • Second-life products
  • Products from the Swedish Food Market

How can I pay with Scan & Pay?

At the checkout:
  1. Scan your Scan & Pay QR code.
  2. Select your preferred payment method.
  3. Complete the payment.
Scan & Pay checkouts accept major credit cards and mobile payment options. You can also pay with an IKEA gift card at the Scan & Pay checkout.
Cash payments must be made at a traditional checkout. An IKEA co-worker can scan your Scan & Pay QR code there.
Payment directly through the IKEA app is not currently available.
To help prevent theft, IKEA carries out random checks. Thank you for your understanding.

Where can I find the Scan & Pay checkouts?

The designated Scan & Pay checkouts are located in the checkout area, after the self-service furniture area. Follow the signs in the store.
You can also use another checkout in the IKEA store to pay for your Scan & Pay purchase. Some stores may not yet have dedicated Scan & Pay checkouts.

Can I use Scan & Pay to pay for an order reserved by a co-worker or created at an information kiosk?

Orders for goods collection or delivery cannot currently be managed directly in Scan & Pay.

Can I remove a product that I have already scanned?

Yes. You can remove a product in the IKEA app or ask an IKEA co-worker for help at the checkout.
To remove a product in the app, select the minus sign (−) in the quantity field.

I cannot find the barcode. What should I do?

Please ask an IKEA co-worker for help. A co-worker at the store or at the Scan & Pay checkout can help you scan the product.

Can my Scan & Pay purchase be delivered?

After paying for your purchase, take all the products to the Customer Service desk yourself. The co-workers there can help you arrange delivery and explain the available delivery options and prices.

Can I buy an IKEA gift card using Scan & Pay?

No. IKEA gift cards cannot currently be purchased using Scan & Pay.
To buy a gift card, please use a regular checkout. IKEA co-workers can also help recharge a gift card at a dedicated Scan & Pay checkout, where this service is available.

How do I return a product purchased with Scan & Pay?

Returns and exchanges for products purchased with Scan & Pay follow the same process as returns and exchanges for other IKEA purchases.
