Great study chair!RebeccaI've been thinking about these chairs for a while and finally decided to try them. So happy I did! My husband and I have been living with Kmart chairs for over 15yrs and they were so beat up they were dangerous! So,I didn't want to spend a fortune on new dining chairs but I wanted something that was solid wood and something that would last. These pine chairs from Ikea checked all the boxes for me, and they are so pretty in our farmhouse kitchen/dining room. My 6yr old daughter and I put these together in less than an hour, I bought some chair cushions from Ikea to go with them and they are just perfect! They feel very study, we are not lightweight people, and I definitely think these will last us a very long time! They can be custom painted or stained as they come pre-sanded and ready to finish. The price was great! I definitely recommend these kitchen chairs 👍.5
Nice, but holes missingColleen H.Clean look, and first half of assembly was easy. However, I wasn't expecting to need a drill. The instructions make it look like all you need is a screwdriver! Not sure if this was a mistake or not, but none of the three I purchased had holes for the screws that go into the actual piece you sit on.3
I just love raw woodBretI just love raw wood they turned out real nice after the clear coat.5
SolidchristineOf course it’s easy to assemble; is very comfortable, can be painted/stained yet at 5’6 ft/1.6M the chair backing hits directly on shoulder blades. The other ‘thing’ is that screws will be seen on side of chair. Aside of these details is a fantastic buy and we’re very happy with it, headed out to add more now that I know you what a solid product this is. Quite pleased5
Simple chairsHankWe bought 4 of these classic yet simple chairs to go with our kitchen table. Sturdy and even capable of holding my portly friend they marry well with the table we also purchased at IKEA.5
Nice chairsChiaraNice chairs5
Ivar chairTamaraI love the chair. It was super easy to put together and you can paint or stain it or leave it natural. Any way you have it. Sitting in it was good but could use a small cushion for sure. It’s a great chair.5
Chair reviewIrisThese chairs are inexpensive and awesome. I was able to stain them to be the same color as my dining room table, and they are perfect.5
just the right sizebsmljust the right size and height for table.5
Good for the cheap priceMommy 31Husband purchased these to go with our dining room table. We had to choose delivery option because of the COVID 19 pandemic and the stores being closed. They are very light weight and not very well constructed I do not see them lasting long however they will do the job for now. Delivery took over a month and while we ordered 3 chairs they came on separate days. I would say if you do not have any large people that will be using these to sit in they should do just fine.2
good for the price, but...sianmiguelthe first one i bought 2 years ago? over time it just simply started to fall apart and come loose at the lower rungs (which can NOT be tightened). i had tightened it several times where possible and even used some wood glue - still just fell apart. in spite of that issue, i recently bought 2 more. i do like the design (basic) and the price.3
Ok chair, needs finishing.KB_2020The chair is fine. It's a chair. But it's pretty unfinished. If you want it to be smooth and complete, it needs light sanding and either paint or stain. And even then it could still use some kind of final coating.3
Not what it used to be!KT00IKEA carries similar item like this for many years. They might change the name, or appearance slightly, but all in all it's the same item, however worse quality. If you need fairly cheap chair that you would use occasionally, buy it. However, stain it, or seal it. Because anything that you drop on chair (food wise), will color it for you.2
Cheap ChairFilthyrich93Bought chair to match the IKEA tablet. When followed the directions the late on the back split both sides when I screwed the chair together. Do not buy.1
trying. ChairLinkMaLove the price for the quality of these chairs.4
It’s niceAnonymous reviewerI purchase this item about two months ago and I enjoy how it makes my dining area looks. It goes great with the table4
It"s a chairAndy24Pretty simple chair. Easy to put together for the most part, just requires some screws and little wood connectors. Only took me a few minutes to assemble. Works great!5
Ingenious!!CC11111111I have been looking every where for a decent kitchen chair without breaking the bank, impossible until I found these chairs! Assembled easily, and ready for paint. Sturdy, lightweight and good looking, I couldn’t be happier!5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the wood species, it is durable, beautiful, renewable and recyclable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood. This way, every tree is put to good use that little extra.
