CheapMekaI agree with the other reviewers that stated they felt that IKEA’s quality has declined! I have several pieces of Hemnes furniture even just from five years ago that appear better than this. As soon as I opened the box to assemble, I noticed this blue discoloration in the wood; almost like someone tried to make it appear that it is real wood. It looks terrible. I am very disappointed that at this price point this is what you get. I will be returning.1
Step 7 Holes DO NOT AlignJamesAs others have mentioned, the holes on the drawers (sides and back piece) do not align, which means Step 7 cannot be completed. I contacted customer service, and they sent replacements, which were exactly identical as the parts in question. IKEA needs to recall this product asap.1
Hennes tv cabinetJenniferThis is a very pretty piece of furniture. Very sturdy. Easy to assemble. Can be used in any room. You can style the shelves or use for even more storage. We have bought 2 of these. Ours is in our spare bedroom for guests to use. Our daughter's is in her living room.5
Low QualityDanIt's a shame that IKEA's quality has dropped to such levels. I still own IKEA furniture that was purchased in 1998. Back then, their items were manufactured properly with quality hardware. The purchase of this HEMNES unit was a big mistake. The quality of the materials and hardware is poor. The tolerances of the machine work and hole boring is inaccurate making assembly quite a tedious challenge. I've worked with my hands for my entire career and it took me a total of 4 hours to assemble and adjust this unit to make it look somewhat presentable. This is a purchase I regret. In my opinion, it is not worth half the price that I paid. Also, the wood top had several small dent and gouges upon delivery.1
First time and not happyJonny I don’t usually write reviews at least it deserves. This is the first time that I assembled an IKEA furniture after many done but this one has many errors. One of the side of the drawers were missing the screws holes for the sliders. The holes were in the other side, not big of the deal I have to unassembled the finish drawer and flip the side. When I was installing a screw by hand the board start splitting. Once again I had to remove the piece, drill a pilot hole and install the screw. Almost at the end of the process the last piece (back board) didn’t fit properly. I had to trim the board before I installed. Trust me I was ready to return the product. Bad I never been so lucky with this IKEA furniture after many done. 2
Defect in the productCigdemThis piece came chipped. I have photos of it. I don’t know who to contact to make this right2
drawers cant be put togetherRossThe holes for step 7 (putting the back piece on the drawers) are not aligned and do not allow the bottom piece to sit properly. Pretty disappointing from a company like IKEA, especially after others have also complained.1
Create a Window SeatDWe wanted a window seat without the hassle of building it in. This unit was just right for the corner window in the guest room. A perfect fit under the window!5
Step 7 holes not alignedJordanI'm sitting here trying to figure out what I did wrong, and the answer is nothing. Now I need to use my own screws or kreg jig to assemble the drawers.2
TV rackLuizThe white paint could be better, but it's meeting expectations.5
AvoidRyanThere is a manufacturing error on a certain production run for this product. I have visited the store three times, which is a 30-minute drive one way at IKEA Canton. If you view the 3D online example for the 72" tv stand, you will see a horizontal brace that is longer than the other four. This is because where the part comes together at each side panel is recessed. All horizontal supports are the same length!
The part I am speaking of is step 20 in the instruction manual. Step 18 clearly shows there are two different horizontal lengths as they instruct you through a separate diagram to ensure you are selecting the shorter piece for that step.
This has been an incredible waste of time, costing me money. I have attempted assembly three times that have all failed due to the missing horizontal brace that is at the bottom middle that runs under the drawers.
In each box, I have received two pieces that are for step 18. I am returning this and getting another line of furniture. Stay away.1

TV standMikeTV Stand easy to put together. Looks great5
Form Without FunctionKevinHas anyone at IKEA ever shopped for home AV gear? Obviously not. Otherwise, this "TV unit" would be able to accommodate standard AV receivers, amplifiers, etc. the three cubbies are too small for even the smallest of proper AV receivers - you know...the ones with all the HDMI ports that people plug their streaming boxes, game consoles, and DVD or Blu-ray players into?
In fact, NONE of IKEA's "TV and media" furniture pieces will accommodate most AV equipment. Makes me wonder who at IKEA actually does any design research, other than, "That looks nice!"1
Just what we neededArvindPutting it together was easy looks great5
MisalignmentDerekThis was mentioned by several people. Step 7 (part of drawer assembly) of the instructions cannot actually be performed because the holes in the side walls are not aligned with the holes in the back wall. This was true for all 3 drawers. I ended up buying sharp tip screws (flat head Phillips #8 1.5 inch) and making my own holes and completing the step. Honestly was probably better than the plastic nails that Ikea provided. I put 2 stars so that Ikea can consider recalling this product from their stores and rectifying this issue, since it seems multiple people are having the same issue.2
HUGE price increase!ChristineWhat the heck happened to the price? I was going to buy this a few weeks ago when it was one sale for $149 but of course, it was out of stock. The regular price was $199. Now it's back in stock and the price is $349????!!!!! No thanks!1
Price changeLeoHow did the price go up $100 over night. Was planning on buying this.1
Huge Flaw on Otherwise Nice TV StandAnonymous reviewerThis TV stand has an enormous flaw: there is insufficient support in the center. We placed a TV on it that weighs 87 to 88 pounds, which is just under the weight limit of 90 pounds. After only a couple of days, the stand has already started to bow in the middle. To have a legs on a TV stand that are about 70" apart, without any legs in the center for support, is just a terrible idea. We have a lot of HEMNES furniture and we love most of it, but I don't know what IKEA was thinking on this one. With that said, the TV stand looks nice and is a good price for something that is solid wood. Because there are things that we like about the stand, and also because returning it would be a giant hassle, we decided to keep the stand and try adding some furniture support legs in the center. Hopefully that works—I guess we'll see! Overall, I could not recommend this TV stand unless you either do not plan on putting much weight on it or you add something under the center for support.3
Very Flimsy To Put TogetherCarlyI don’t know if we just got a bad group but this was so hard to put together, the nails are so flimsy and holes don’t line up correctly. Overall an incredibly stressful and hard experience to put together compared to what I expect from IKEA. Would not recommend, finished product looks nice but also unsure how long it will last because of how flimsy the materials were.2
