Nice coffee tableRogerI purchased this for my son's new condo in Denver...easy to assemble and fits in nicely when space is a bit limited. The wooden table top and ends are of high quality...all in all a great addition to any small space!5
Right size for our living roomMAYAPerfect size for our living room space. It's a soft top and by using a table runner it protects it from scratches, especially with two kitties!5
Quality doesn't justify the priceElizabeth P.The tabletop is super soft pine and prone to denting and is easily damaged. I purchased it new, in box, in the as-is department, as it was overstock, and the $54.99 I spent on the table was worth it, but I wouldn't spend $249.99 on it. It looks good, was easy to assemble, and the drawer and bottom shelf are nice features. I also like that I can have it as a side table or as a coffee table, and the option to have the leaves extended or retracted make it very versatile. The quality doesn't justify the price, and if I had paid full price, I would have been upset.4
Coffee TableLaAnnaWe love this coffee table!!5
Really really versatile perfect for small spacesFredReally versatile table that can extend full size coffee table like regular ones, perfect for small apartments5
Good, if a little taller than expectedLauraI mean, I know I saw it in store but didn't translate that to my place well. But I like it, particularly the folding sides.4
Amazing little coffee tablePhilipMost efficient, multipurpose coffee table that I've ever seen. Made the purchase and am pretty sure this will be my permanent coffee table moving forward. So far best bang for my buck furniture purchase. Main table top came with a slight crack, but doesn't seem to affect the performance in the slightest. Really cool.5
Perfect for my small apartmentWayneEasy to assemble. Just what I need for my small apartment. I keep it folded down until I need more space for people visiting. Would rather it be all natural instead of black and natural. But, that is preference and didn't stop me from buying.3
Functional but lacking in qualityPurplePonyUnfortunately this piece did not have as quality of a feel as the Hemnes series, even though it's solid wood. The leaves were not of equal thickness, with the left side of mine being thicker than the right, so that when the leaves are up, the right side droops. I'm able to level it out by adding wood shims underneath, but it was a disappointment, and the top of the table is also slightly uneven because of this, so don't expect to be able to set a coffee mug on the seams where the leaves meet the center. Pieces did not fit together as tightly as they do for Hemnes products, and the table top itself had some rough defects in the wood. Pine isn't a perfect furniture wood, but at least for the Hemnes pieces, the wood pieces were all sanded completely smooth. We wanted a coffee table that would fit between two chairs but that could be pulled out to the center of the room and opened up for more surface space. This fits the need and it looks good and has that handy little drawer for coasters and remotes, but I would treat it very gently. The price implies a higher quality than what you get.3
Almost PerfectElUnicoLoboI love this table*! The Asterisk being that I expect Well thought Design. This table is lacking a harder finish, better material selection, and better fasteners. I'd gladly pay more for these improvements. I don't recall hoe long I've been buying products from Ikea, but I have noticed that they do improve their products. What really sucks is that the vast majority of us are Beta testers, and their products aren't intended to last. They have Planned Obsolescence. My 2.5year old broke The Drawer. It is not made of solid wood. Had it been made of actual wood it wouldn't have broken, or a metal bracket like The Ingatorp Desk that I bought. That being said... I'm satisfied.... though I want Ikea to make it right for myself, and the rest of you hard working Humans.5
I like this table but,Sarah W WI like this table bur, the drawer will not stay in place. It keeps falling out. Seems like the wooden rails are leaning out. The drawer will be completely useless if I can't some help with how to fix it.4
Great qualityRich20Looks great. Easy assembly. Very versatile.5

Great Drop-Leaf Coffee TableBetsy9We are pleased with the flexibility and look of this coffee table!5
light weight yet durablegeorge134looks good adjustable leaves work well and remain stable when opened4
Scratches easilyBean1020Scratches easily but looks great overall. Took 3 hours to put together.3
Love the sizeFlladyI purchased this table a few weeks ago. It looks great in our room. Trouble was, when we were putting it together we saw we had 2 left sides and no right! It was the last one in the store, we called customer services, they said we could return it or try to get a right side from another store. We were cut off while trying to resolve problem. My husband drilled some holes in 2nd left side and managed to finish.4
3 extra pieces? The RookieWe purchased this for a spare room, I was a little worried about having to assemble it but found I had no problems and it was quite ease....until I came to the last step, I have the pieces and the diagram, but for the life of me I can't figure out where they go...the piece looks awesome ...can't wait to return to IKEA to see where that part goes though...5
Perfect for a small spaceSomervilleMomThis is the second time I bought this coffee table. (The first lasted through 6 years of young children and constant use.) it is the perfect combination of height for eating in front of the TV, storage with a drawer, and adjustable legs to accommodate a crowd. In a smaller house, multipurpose furniture that closes to a manageable size is indispensable. I searched for months for something else but could not find another table with the versatility of Arkelstorp.5
Very usefulSamuel MY manThis is very flexible for my little living room.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the tree species, it is durable, beautiful and renewable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood.
