Product safety recall. IKEA recalls IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press 

IKEA urges all customers who own an IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press to stop using it and contact IKEA. The product has the article number 201.521.58 and affected date stamps are 2411 (YYWW) until 2522 (YYWW). The date stamp and article number are not visible on the product once the original label has been removed. The affected article has been sold from April 2024 up until June 11 2025.   

Why is this product dangerous?

Due to a production error, identified after an internal investigation, indicating a risk of small metal pieces detaching during use and subsequently being ingested with the food. This can be harmful to health. Affected products can be identified by a marking of the IKEA logo on the upper handle of the product that look like shown.

If customers still cannot identify it, they can return any IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press and get a refund. 

What to do?

Customers who own an affected garlic press, with date stamps 2411 (YYWW) until 2522 (YYWW), sold from April 2024 up until June 11 2025, should immediately stop using it and contact IKEA for a full refund.  

Remedies for customers

Affected products can be returned to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase (i.e. a receipt) is not required.

Product safety recall. IKEA recalls certain date stamp of IKEA 365+ HJÄLTE stirring spatula due to non-compliant migration test

IKEA urges all customers who own a IKEA 365+ HJÄLTE stirring spatula to stop using it and contact IKEA. The affected product has the article number 401.494.62 and the date stamp 2445 (YYWW). The article number and date stamp are not visible on the product once the original label has been removed. Therefore, IKEA is recalling all IKEA 365+ HJÄLTE stirring spatulas that were purchased after November 2024 up until May 13, 2025. 

Why is this product dangerous?

A local test in Belgium showed non-compliant migration of primary aromatic amines (PAA) above the permissible limit. These substances can be carcinogenic with prolonged use and therefore may be harmful to health.  

What to do?

Customers who own one of the affected stirring spatulas, with date stamp 2445 (YYWW), corresponding to products purchased after November 2024 up until May 13th 2025, should immediately stop using it and contact IKEA for a full refund.

Remedies for customers

Affected products can be returned to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase (i.e. a receipt) is not required.

IKEA is recalling the following products

  • LEDLJUS 24 lights, black, article number 603.574.31
  • SOMMARLÅNKE LED floor lamp beige, article number 705.443.24
  • SOMMARLÅNKE LED light chain 12 bulb, multi colour, article number 205.443.31
  • STRÅLA LED lighting chain 24 stars flashing, gold, article number 805.028.37
  • STRÅLA LED light chain 24 stars flash/outdoor, gold, article number  105.631.41
  • STRÅLA LED lighting curtain 48 outdoor star, article number 605.325.81
  • STRÅLA LED lighting curtain 48 outdoor star, article number 705.824.53
  • SVARTRÅ LED lighting chain 12 black, outdoor, article number 305.218.00

The affected products have been sold since September 2021 and can be identified via the LED driver name, the date stamp of the LED driver and the plug name (see details in the image).

Affected LED driver: ICPSH24-2-IL-1 

Driver date stamps (YYWW): 2138, 2141, 2148, 2209, 2215, 2224, 2231, 2236, 2320, 2326, 2332, 2336, 2347, 2409, 2413, 2421, 2423, 2424, 2426, 2434, 2437.

Affected plug: SYK-02F

Products with other specifications are not in scope of this recall.

Why are these products dangerous?

Due to a manufacturing error, the plug has been found to be not splash-proof and therefore does not meet an important safety standard. There is an increased risk of electric shock.

What to do?

IKEA urges all customers who own the affected outdoor LED lighting chains and lamps to stop using them.

Remedies for customers

Customers can return the products to the nearest IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not required.

Important safety warning: recall for certain VARMFRONT powerbanks due to fire hazard

IKEA urges all customers who own a VARMFRONT powerbank with the model numbers and date stamps below, to stop using them. Due to a manufacturing error, certain VARMFRONT powerbanks may pose a fire safety risk. Customers can return the product to their nearest IKEA store. They will receive a full refund.

The safety warning and recall applies to the following models (sold from July 2023 up to and including March 2024):

Important Safety Warning and recall ÅSKSTORM 40W USB charger dark grey

We urge all customers who own ÅSKSTORM 40W USB charger to stop using it and return the product to any IKEA store for a full refund. Increased risk of electrical shock due to wear and tear of power cord possibly resulting in electric shock hazard, which can cause burns.

We develop our products using a rigorous risk assessment and testing program, to make sure that the products live up to all applicable laws and standards on the markets where they are sold. Despite this it has come to our attention that the power cable on the ÅSKSTORM 40W USB charger dark grey may get damaged or broken, after being wrapped around a charger or bent back and forth after a longer period of use.

The damaged cable may lead to thermal burns and electric shock. Therefore, ÅSKSTORM 40W USB charger dark grey is being recalled.

  • The ÅSKSTORM 40W USB charger was sold since April 2020.
  • The ÅSKSTORM 40W USB charger dark grey with article number 50461193 can be identified by the model number ICPSW5-40-1 that is found on label on the backside of the USB charger. 

No proof of purchase, such as a receipt, is required. You can return this product for an unlimited time.

IKEA extends important safety warning: recall for repair action for certain LETTAN mirrors due to breaking wall fittings 

IKEA urges everyone who owns an affected LETTAN mirror to stop using it and to order replacement wall fittings free of charge. 

Customer safety is always the starting point for IKEA. The LETTAN mirrors have been tested and comply with current standards, but there have been reports that part of the fitting used to attach the LETTAN mirrors to the wall may break. This creates the risk of the mirror falling off the wall unexpectedly. LETTAN mirrors have been in the range since February 2020.

LETTAN mirrors affected by a recall for repair now include:

  • All LETTAN mirrors with a date stamp before and including 2105 (YYWW)
  • LETTAN mirrors with supplier number 21944, date stamps before and including 2325 (YYWW)

Date stamp and supplier number can be found on a label on the backside of the LETTAN mirror. See the example of a label on the left, with the location of the supplier number (21944) and date stamp (2152 = Year Year Week Week) highlighted in red.

Safety warning and recall – IKEA urges all customers who own the BLÅVINGAD fishing game to stop using it, place it out of the reach of children and return the product to the closest IKEA store for a full refund.

 Despite this it has come to our attention that some of the fittings that attach LETTAN mirrors to the wall, have been breaking. This has in turn lead to some mirrors unexpectedly falling. Safety warning and recall - IKEA urges all customers who have purchased the ODGER swivel chair in anthracite colour with date stamp before and including 2221 to stop using it and return the product to any IKEA store for a full refund. 

Safety is a top priority for IKEA. To ensure product safety, all our products are tested and comply with applicable standards and legislation. Despite this it has come to our attention that the star base leg of the ODGER swivel chair in the anthracite colour with date stamps before and including 2221 may break and pose fall and injury hazards for the user.

This only concerns ODGER swivel chair in the colour anthracite with date stamps up to and including 2221, where 22 stands for the year and 21 for the week in which the product was produced.

The date stamp can be found underneath the seat of the chair. Other ODGER chairs are not affected by this recall.No proof of purchase, such as a receipt, is required. Customers can return the products for an unlimited time.

Safety is a top priority for IKEA. To ensure product safety, all our products are tested and comply with applicable standards and legislation. Despite this we have received reports where the espresso maker has burst during use, which can cause burns. This concerns only the products with a stainless steel safety valve (silver gray in colour) with article number 703.602.25 and date stamps from 2040 to 2204. Other espresso makers are not covered by this recall.. No other units are affected by this recall.

The HUVUDROLL frozen vegetable balls with other 'best before’ dates or vegetable balls consumed in the restaurants of IKEA are not involved in this recall and are safe for consumption.

Important safety warning and recall TROLIGTVIS travel mug

Safety warning and recall – IKEA urges all customers who have a pink, beige, blue or green TROLIGTVIS travel mug to stop using it and return the product to any IKEA store for a full refund. It concerns the article numbers 004.433.28 - 504.124.47 - 204.291.85 and 004.291.86. The recall only concerns the travel mugs produced in India. Underneath the mug this is marked with the text ‘Made in India.’

Recent test reports show that the product may have levels of Dibuthyl phthalate (DBP) exceeding the prescribed limits. After receiving the test results, IKEA directly stopped sales of the travel mug worldwide.

No proof of purchase, such as a receipt, is required. Safety is a top priority for IKEA. Therefore IKEA has decided to recall this product.

Important safety warning and recall children’s bib MATVRÅ, Blue/Red 2-pack

 

Safety warning and recall - IKEA urges all customers that have purchased the bib MATVRÅ (blue/red 2-pack article number 504.269.20), to stop using it.

IKEA takes product safety very seriously. All our products are tested and comply with applicable standards and legislation. In spite of this we have received reports that the button on the MATVRÅ can come off and thus presents a choking hazard.

IKEA urges all customers to return the product to IKEA for a full refund or a similar product. A proof of purchase (receipt) is not required.

In september 2019 it has come to our attention that there is a risk for the button to come off if the child pulls at it. The safety of customers is a top priority for IKEA, which is why we choose to recall the children’s bib MATVRÅ Blue/Red 2-pack, as a precautionary measure.

How to attach furniture to the wall

Secure it!

If furniture tips over it can cause serious injury. Accidents can especially but children at risk. The best way to help prevent furniture tip-over accidents is to secure furniture to the wall. IKEA urges customers to inspect their IKEA chests of drawers and dressers to ensure that they are securely anchored to the wall using the restraints provided in the packaging.

Should you need a replacement restraint kit to secure the IKEA furniture in your home, you can fill in the form of the customer service. We will need an article number of the product. In case you don’t have the article number, a product name can be enough. You can also pick up the material at customer service in the store.
