The door of my IKEA dishwasher does not open and close properly. What can I do?

You can solve most problems with opening and closing your dishwasher yourself. Often the installation or operating manual will help you find the right solution. Can't figure it out? Please contact us, we will be happy to help you!

All IKEA dishwashers come with an integrated sliding hinge. This sliding hinge ensures that the kitchen front that you place on the dishwasher door slides upwards when you open the dishwasher door. This allows the door to be fully opened without the underside of the kitchen front touching the plinth or the bottom of the dishwasher.

Sliding hinge does not function properly immediately after installation
Does the sliding hinge not seem to function as it should? This can usually be solved by loosening the screws that are placed on the side of the dishwasher. In the installation manual, these are often indicated with the image of a padlock. These screws are covered with a protective cap after installation. Remove this protective cover on both sides and loosen the screws a bit. Check whether the door now opens and closes correctly.

Sliding hinge no longer functions properly after a period of use
It is also possible that the dishwasher door no longer opens and closes properly after a longer period of use. Sometimes this is accompanied by a cracking or squeaking sound. Always check first that the dishwasher door or kitchen front does not rub against anything when opening or closing. If this is the case, you will probably need to level the dishwasher again.
