How high do I mount the METOD suspension rail for the cabinets in my IKEA kitchen?
There is a different height of the suspension rail for each cabinet. This is measured from the floor to the bottom of the METOD suspension rail.
There is a simple rule of thumb for all cabinets with legs that you can follow: cabinet height + leg height - 6 centimeter.
For instance, if you plan to hang a base unit of 80 cm high with METOD legs of 8 cm, hang the suspension rail at 80 cm + 8 cm - 6 cm = 82 cm from the highest point of the floor.
Are you using use SEKTION 11 cm legs? Keep in mind that you will need to mount the rail higher to compensate for the different leg height.
Additional wall cabinet mounted on top of high cabinet
Are you placing an additional wall cabinet on top of your high cabinet? You will need to mount an additional suspension rail above the rail you already placed for the high cabinet.
Simply add the height of the additional wall cabinet on top of the suspension rail height you already calculated for the high cabinet.
Are you going to mount wall units above base units or against an empty wall? Then you can determine the height of the wall units yourself. You mount the hanging rail 6 cm lower than the top of your wall cabinet. Make sure that there is enough space between your worktop and the bottom of your wall cabinets.
Are you going to mount wall cabinets next to a high cabinet? Then keep the same height for the hanging rail that you also used for the high cupboard. This way the top of your wall units will be flush with the tall unit!
