Reference project: Nählädeli Stoffliebi
An empty commercial space turns into a shop.
This is what Martina Faude had dreamed of: an open, friendly salesroom, that’s personal and cosy with a homey atmosphere. With a seating area for talking over a cup of coffee. The textiles were to be put into focus with light and the appropriate presentation of goods. This also required traditional and playful accents in a modern context.

It all started with Martina Faude’s hobby
“In the summer of 2020 – right in the midst of COVID-19 – I had the idea of opening a shop based on my hobby, sewing. Since my studio at home was already furnished with Ikea HEMNES furniture, I had the idea to tackle the project together with IKEA”.

What needs have been taken into account?
- Storage of bales of fabric
- Seating area for customers: for conversations & coffee
- Large cutting & presentation table
- Separate warehouse
- Storage for accessories: buttons, zippers, etc.
- Checkout table

What challenges had to be overcome?
- No large storage unit or furniture could be placed against the large window front. The solution: half-height shelves for storage and display in the shop window
- The open space did not offer room for separate storage. The solution: A separate room was created using curtains and a room divider
Customer feedback from Martina Faude:
“Everything worked out so well with IKEA for Business, I would do it again in a heartbeat, and I definitely enjoyed the contact and the personal advice as well. It was a very special project, but one that was mastered with flying colours."
