Reference project: Bed & Breakfast in Lucerne

Stylish, traditional architecture meets modern interior

It was to be a place to switch off, a cosy flat where business travellers in Lucerne can feel at home. Our interior designers have given the time-honoured rooms a new lease of life.

In the beginning there was a beautiful old flat

Old rooms exude a special charm. To emphasise the special character and elements, such as historic wall panelling, corners and bay windows, the interior design must be carefully chosen. This was the challenge taken up by our business specialists, who have created a retreat for travellers by setting up this Bed & Breakfast.

Rooms with a feel-good factor

To create a homey feeling for guests, each room has been furnished with great attention to detail. This includes furniture in various styles, friendly bright colours and matching textiles. These are the rooms we have designed for the Bed & Breakfast:

  • 1 living and dining room
  • 1 bedroom with a double bed
  • 1 bedroom with a guest bed and desk
  • Balcony and bathroom

What needs have been taken into account?

The Bed & Breakfast was to:

  • be suitable for longer stays by business travellers
  • appeal to a wide audience in terms of furnishing style
  • be furnished to a high standard with a special touch
  • be easy to clean
  • be functional but also cosy
  • integrate Lucerne and the surrounding area with its mountains

Customer feedback

«I was impressed by the fast pace of the IKEA for Business team on the day. After sending the request to IKEA for Business, it only took a few days before the Interior Designer had carried out the needs analysis with us and started the project. The design idea completely impressed us right from the start.»

What challenges had to be overcome?

  • Matching the beautiful style of Lucerne interior design in the furnishings
  • Finding the right balance between a space that is functional but also feels like a home
  • Adhering to the short 4-week time frame to complete the concept, which was achieved thanks to good communication
