How does the IKEA assembly service work?

Simply book the assembly service during your purchase together with the delivery, and our service partners will assemble your products conveniently at your home. Make sure that the packages remain unopened and everything is prepared – this way we can ensure smooth and professional assembly.

This is how IKEA assembly service works:
1.Order placement:
You can easily add our assembly service online while placing your order at checkout. You can also book it with the help of our co-workers in any of our stores or Plan and Order Points. We recommend booking your assembly service together with your delivery to avoid separate appointments and additional costs.
Book assembly service online:
a. Log in with your IKEA Family account to profit from benefits and collect rewards (optional).
b. Add all your wished products in your shopping cart. Select there the products you want assembled, which is only possible in combination with a Standard delivery. Please also secure the height of your room and don't order products that are too big to be assembled in your room. Any subsequent return order or exchange due to a lack of measurement will be at your cost.
c. With 'continue to checkout', select the 'Standard delivery'.
d. Select the earliest delivery and assembly date - or change it to your wished day by clicking on it. You can only select a full day but will be notified of a shorter timeslot by our transport partner before the delivery happens.
e. Give as much information as possible to the transport and assembly partner. Ensure that delivery to the room of your choice is possible (Parking; Lift; Size of stairwell; Size of room) and verify the delivery address.
f. Before paying, secure that all data and products are correct, no change can be made on the order as soon as it's being prepared. The products, delivery and assembly services are paid together. The price of the assembly is based on your product types and the time and effort required for their assembly. .
Special rates will apply for delivery and assembly services exceeding 3,000 kg, exceeding a volume of more than 18m³ or for regions closed to trucks or car-free areas. In such cases, please contact us before booking such an order online.

Note: If you want to add assembly to an excisting order, please contact us and have your order number ready. In case you already have your IKEA products at home and want to have them assembled by our service partner, be aware that their packages still have to be closed and that you will have to pay for the service partner’s way to your home on top of the assembly price based on your products. If your IKEA products are already opened, our service partner won’t do the assembly. 2. Order processing and confirmation:
a. You receive an order confirmation via e-mail or SMS after placing the order.
b. You will be notified per SMS in the evening before the delivery about a shorter time window for your delivery and assembly.
Track and manage your order online
Modifying your order including assembly (Rescheduling and cancelation) can only be made until your order is being prepared. After a certain status is reached, you may need to cancel and re‑place your order with help of our Customer service.
Note: Even if we work with service partners, IKEA is taking care of them. If you didn't receive a confirmation, a notification or just want to give other information to your service person, please contact IKEA with all the information you have (date of booking, delivery address, e-mail address, phone number).
3. Before assembly:
a. Please do not open or start assemble your products. Our assembly partner will refuse the assembly of opened packages.
b.Place the products directly in the room where they should be assembled.
c. The assembly team will secure items to the wall at no extra charge. Please also have the adequate wall fixings ready as those are not provided by the assembly company. For safety reasons, the assembly team may refuse to mount items on walls that are not load-bearing (i.e., walls that cannot safely support the load).
d.If you used one of our planning tools to design your product, keep your design (code) saved on your computer or printed out. This helps you give the assembly team the right instructions.
4. During assembly:
a.The assembly team will call you about 30 minutes before they arrive.
b. Please be there, provide a parking space and make sure they have access to the room and all the necessary products.
c.If you designed your product using one of our planning tools, present specific assembly instructions. (Open your saved design in the planning tool and select “Summary” → “Assembly overview”)
d.Please check all products for completeness and possible defects immediately after the assembly with the service partner.
If you notice any defects, please inform the service partner immediately on site and make sure that the issue is noted on the delivery note.
Note: Electrical and plumbing services are excluded but can be organized separately with the company NeedHelp.
5. After assembly:
Contact our Customer service within 7 days to let us know about any issue with assembly service. Submit a claim here.
