They use very little energy, last around 25,000 hours and have plenty of other things going for them. They don’t get hot, because LED bulbs don’t glow – they shine – which makes them particularly safe. E14, E27, G9 or GU10 – which LED bulbs does IKEA offer?

You’ll find a wide range of LED bulbs for all the most common base types. The E27 LED bulb is the classic all-rounder – it fits most ceiling lights and floor lamps you’ve got at home. More delicate lights such as chandeliers or certain wall lamps usually take E14 bulbs instead. And if you want to equip ceiling spotlights in the kitchen or hallway, GU10 spots are most often the right choice. G9 bulbs are mainly used in smaller lamps such as desk lights. What wattage or brightness do LED bulbs come in?

The brightness of LED bulbs is measured in lumens – the higher the number, the brighter the light in the room. Our standard LED bulbs cover a wide range, from cosy 250 lumens up to powerful 1521 lumens. But how much do you actually need? For a reading lamp by the bed, around 400 lumens is usually enough. In the living room or kitchen, where you need more light, we recommend 800 to 1,000 lumens. Larger rooms are best lit with LED bulbs of over 1,000 lumens. The big advantage: more lumens for fewer watts means better efficiency – and you’ll see that reflected in your electricity bill.

Which LED bulbs are dimmable?

If you want to set the mood with light, our dimmable LED bulbs are a great choice. Whether you go for dimmable G9, GU10, E14 or E27 bulbs, dimmable LEDs give you full control over your lighting. Bright light for cooking, softer light for unwinding in the evening – you can adjust the light level smoothly to suit what you’re doing. They’re compatible with most standard dimmers. Which LED bulbs are the most energy efficient?

All our LED bulbs are highly efficient. In practice, they use very little electricity for the amount of light they produce. On top of that, they come with an impressive lifetime of around 25,000 hours. Fewer replacements, lower costs, less waste – IKEA LED bulbs are an investment that pays off for years to come. And here’s a simple tip if you want to keep your lighting as efficient as possible: look at the ratio of lumens to watts – the more light you get for every watt, the better it is for your wallet.

Can I replace all my bulbs with LED bulbs – and can I use them in any lamp?

In principle, yes – as long as the base type matches. An E27 LED bulb will screw into any lamp with an E27 fitting, and the same goes for E14 bulbs and E14 fittings. Just check which base type your lamp uses. That way, you can also make sure that the bulb fits comfortably under the lampshade. And before you know it, the cosy reading lamp by your favourite armchair, the vintage bedside lamp and the modern ceiling light above the dining table will all be running on LED.
