What material works best for a fitted sheet?
Cotton is one of the best materials for fitted sheets. It's robust, easy to care for and long-lasting – ideal for everyday use. Lyocell stands out for its exceptional softness and sustainable production, which is why it's often combined with cotton. A cotton-lyocell mix sheet regulates moisture well and feels pleasant against the skin. The high thread count of our fitted sheets adds to the quality and durability.
Which fitted sheet is best for summer or if you tend to sweat?
For warm nights, a fitted sheet with a lyocell content is a good choice. This natural fibre cools in the heat and draws moisture away quickly. Pure cotton is also breathable and keeps you dry as you sleep. Lighter colours reflect heat too. If you tend to sweat in the night, it's also worth looking for a breathable mattress when you buy. You'll also find light summer duvets at IKEA to keep you snug without getting too warm. That way you stay at a comfortable temperature even on hot summer nights and wake up more rested.
What size should a fitted sheet be for a divan bed?
Divan beds often have a mattress depth of 25 to 36 cm and may need deep-pocket fitted sheets. Standard fitted sheets should, however, fit many deeper mattresses without any trouble. The important thing is to match the length and width of the fitted sheet to your mattress and bed. You'll find fitted sheets for day beds in 90x200 cm right through to double bed sizes in 140x200, 160x200 and 180x200 cm. Whether it's a single bed or a divan bed, a standard or a deep mattress: the elastic in our fitted sheets stretches to fit.
How often should I wash my fitted sheet?
A fitted sheet should be washed roughly every one to two weeks. Over time, sweat, dead skin and dust mites build up. In summer or if you have allergies, a weekly change is a better idea. A handy tip: keep a second set ready so the bed always stays fresh.
At what temperature should I wash fitted sheets?
For a normal wash, 40°C is enough and is kinder to both colours and the environment. If you need a thorough hygiene wash, cotton can usually handle 60°C. Fitted sheets with a lyocell content are better washed at 40°C. Always check the care label to avoid damage or faster wear. That way our sheets stay in shape and keep their soft feel after many washes.
