Key features and benefits of our coffee makers and accessories (depending on the product):

Fancy a proper coffee break? With our coffee makers and matching accessories, you can take that moment whenever you like.

How do I use a French press correctly?

A French press is wonderfully simple to use. Start by warming it up with a little hot water – this keeps the coffee warmer for longer and improves extraction. Add the coarsely ground coffee, pour the water over it in a circular motion so all the grounds are evenly soaked, then place the lid on with the plunger in the raised position. After the brewing time, press the plunger slowly and evenly downwards – this separates the grounds from the coffee and gives you a full, aromatic cup.

How long should coffee brew in a French press?

The ideal brewing time for a French press is around four minutes – the sweet spot for a balanced, aromatic result. If you prefer something milder, a coarser grind and three minutes works well. For a stronger coffee with a finer grind, you can wait up to five minutes. Pour the coffee straight after pressing the plunger down. That stops it brewing on and turning bitter.

How many spoonfuls of coffee do I need for a French press?

A good starting point is around 60 grams of ground coffee per litre of water. That's roughly one heaped tablespoon per cup (about 150 ml), which is handy when you don't have scales to hand. If you like your coffee stronger, add a little more. For a gentler cup, slightly less will do.

How do I clean my coffee maker?

The good news first: our coffee makers are dishwasher-safe, just take them apart beforehand. If you prefer to wash by hand, here's how: after each use, fully disassemble the French press and rinse all the parts – the glass, plunger, filter and seal – thoroughly under warm running water. Avoid harsh washing-up liquid or abrasive sponges, as these can damage the materials. For stubborn coffee residue, a soft cloth or gentle brush does the job. Let all the parts dry completely before reassembling – that keeps your coffee maker hygienic, long-lasting and ready for your next break.

What coffee works best in a French press?

A medium to coarse grind works best in a French press – finely ground coffee clouds the brew and can make the plunger hard to press. Light to medium roasts work particularly well, as the gentle brewing process without a paper filter lets their fruity, nuanced aromas come through fully. Freshly ground beans just before brewing give the best results, keeping the aroma at its finest.

What coffee accessories does IKEA offer?

It's not just our coffee makers that are worth a look. Our coffee accessories are just as appealing. Elegant tins keep precious roasts or fragrant tea fresh and protected – aromas stay locked in while light and unwanted kitchen smells are kept out. The tins also work beautifully for cereals, biscuits, granola or other dry goods.
