The table has a full plank design that gives it an authentic plank expression with a genuine wood feeling.

The plank expression is enhanced by the design on the edges.

Oak is an exceedingly strong and durable hardwood with a prominent grain. It darkens beautifully with age acquiring a golden-brown undertone.

Every table is unique, with varying grain pattern and natural color shifts that are part of the charm of wood.

Good environmental choice, because the method of using a top layer of solid wood on particleboard is resource-efficient.

Wood is on the softer side but this just gives it a great texture and makes the table deceptively easy to move. The table is extremely sturdy and seems like it could easily last a lifetime.5

Stripes on tablePaige A.I purchased this table in the fall of 2021. We’ve only had it for a year. After about 6 months of use, it stared to show weird stripe discoloration lines on it. We take great care of the table, so I have no clue why this is happening. It’s only happening on one side. The table looks miscolored and we have to get a new one after only one year. Very disappointed as I usually love my ikea purchases.1

I don’t often get attached to furniture, but this table will travel with me across country when we relocate. It’s beautiful, sturdy, imo timeless and I am so glad IKEA still sells it so that I can recommend it to others. With two young children, countless craft/art projects and family dinners have taken place at this table and it still looks brand spanking new. When I purchased it back then though it was during a special and I only paid around $400 for it, but even with the higher cost, I would still purchase this table.5

If I you can, I recommend assembling the table top to the legs rather than the legs ti the top and flipping. That way you don't have to flip it over after it's complete. This table is HEAVY.5

Everyone always congregates around the table and now there's plenty of space. The take is very heavy so it's tough to move but it's also very sturdy which is what I needed.5

great table, but no matching benchwesleylimThe table itself is excellent. It is way better than most Ikea furrniture. It looks good, feels solid, and is sold at a good price. Similar tables from other furniture stores were well over $1000. But don't count on the matching Mockelby bench for seating! The matching bench has been out of stock from most US stores for months, and when I contacted customer support, they told me that the bench was discontinued. You'll have to find your own seating from another furniture store that matches this table. (Ikea recommends Norraryd chairs but those look too modern and dark for a farmhouse style table, or white Henriksdal chairs that make you look like a wedding caterer... meh) It perplexes me that Ikea would discontinue the bench that matches this great table perfectly.3

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
