HOW TO ORGANISE YOUR KITCHEN CUPBOARDS

With spring cleaning season coming up, Jules shares her tips on how to organise your kitchen. For many people, there's nothing more satisfying than a nicely organised kitchen cupboard. If you don't fall into this category, fear not: You too can bring order to your kitchen in just a few simple steps.

Organising your kitchen cupboards and drawers

Start by splitting all your kitchen accessories and cooking utensils into categories, grouping similar items together. All pans, lids and ovenware belong together. Cleaning products should ideally also be kept together — after all, you wouldn't want to pour cleaning vinegar into your salad dressing…

A lot on your plate?

Like Jules, you've probably accumulated a fine collection of bowls and plates over the years. To store your crockery as efficiently as possible, you can stack it up. A plate rack keeps the stack stable even when you're opening and closing doors.

You probably have a number of special plates in your collection. You don't want to hide these away in a cupboard, so why not display them in a stand on your countertop? This way, your beautiful crockery won't only make an appearance during the holiday season.

Open kitchen or shelves

If you have an open-plan kitchen, you have plenty of space to display your best kitchen accessories! Make sure there is a colour scheme so that it doesn't look too busy. Here, too, you should group the different types of crockery, glasses and food containers.

Because you can see everything on the shelf, it's a good idea to avoid flashy packaging. Transfer cereals, candles, onions, salt and pepper into beautiful storage jars.
