Furnishing and decorating a small bedroom
How do you best organise a small bedroom? And which handy furniture and accessories help you save space? Maximise your space with our smart solutions. We will help you in 4 simple steps.
1. It starts with your bed
Do you have a small, narrow bedroom that barely fits a bed? If possible, opt for a queen-size bed or a bed that is 140 centimetres wide.
Choose a bunk bed, a bed on legs or one with drawers, which is also useful for extra storage space.

2. The right clothes storage
Do you have room for a wardrobe? Great! Choose a wardrobe in the same colour as your walls, so it blends into your space. Optimise the space inside your wardrobe with inserts and hangers, and save space on the outside by choosing sliding doors, possibly with a mirrored door. Win-win-win!
No room for a bedroom closet?
Try to use your walls by putting up shelves with a hanging section beneath. If that is not an option, a clothes rack is a great option. Do not hang it too full and use the space under the bed for the rest of your wardrobe.
Tip: Train yourself not to put things on the floor. This way you keep a more spacious feeling.
3. A small bedside table
Go for a small bedside table. It visually takes up less space. Make sure there is enough space for your books, glass of water and a plant or photograph.

4. Styling
In your bedroom you can be completely yourself. Show your style, but keep your small bedroom calm. Freshen up the decorations in your room every so often, for example every season. By not displaying everything, the space remains calmer.
