What can I do to make the doors of my PAX wardrobe fit better?
To ensure all parts of a wardrobe fit together properly, it is important to follow the assembly instructions precisely. We are happy to provide you with some tips.
Ensure the cabinet is level
To make sure all parts of a cabinet fit together, it is important to follow the assembly instructions precisely. Ensure the cabinet is level, both horizontally (floor) and vertically (up along the cabinet).
You can adjust furniture with a swivel foot to level it. If that doesn't work, a wedge can help to straighten the cabinet.
Once the cabinet is completely level and all parts fit together well, you can finally adjust the hinges in multiple directions. How to do this can be found in the assembly instructions for the cabinet or the hinges. These instructions are also available on the product pages of items on IKEA.nl, under the "product information" tab, then click on "assembly and documents."
Gap with hinged doors
The gap between the wardrobe and the door can be up to a centimeter if the hinge is incorrectly placed. Unscrew the hinge part from the wardrobe wall and rotate it 180 degrees so that the thick screw is at the back of the hinge. The instructions for mounting the hinges can be found on the packaging and on our website (click on the correct set of hinges and see 'product information').
Gap with sliding doors
Do you have a PAX wardrobe with sliding doors and is there a gap between the doors and the PAX base unit? This can have different reasons.
If there is a large gap (where even your hand fits), your sliding doors are probably the wrong way around: the left door is on the right and the right door is on the left. During assembly, you determine which door is left and which is right, by mounting sealing strips on the outside of your wardrobe. On the side where the front most door will be, a wider sealing strip is placed than on the side of the rear door. This is because the distance between the door at the front and the wardrobe is greater. If you swap the doors after mounting the sealing strips (left-right), you will have a large gap between the front most door and the wardrobe. Slide the doors back to the correct position to solve this.
Is it a smaller gap, with sliding doors bought between 2022-2024? It is possible that an extra gasket and closing brush, which are now standard, are missing. Ask in one of our stores about the possibilities of receiving these, or contact us.
