Working from your balcony

Why not simply move your workspace outdoors when the weather is good? We’ll share a few tricks with you to help you work outside comfortably and with focus.

Find the right surface

To make sure you have enough space for your laptop, work documents and everything else you need for a day at the office, a sufficiently large, stable table is recommended. If there is only a little space available on your balcony, a functional folding table is a very practical option. A desk pad can help if the surface of the desk is uneven.

Make sure you have shade and optimal lighting conditions

To ensure you don’t break out in a sweat and at the same time have optimal lighting conditions for working, it’s best to find a cosy spot in the shade. On a balcony or roof terrace, you can put up a parasol or canopy to keep things nice and shady. If you find you’re still having to contend with glare and mirror effects on your laptop screen, increase the brightness of your display, enable the high contrast mode in the screen settings or install a protective film.

Bring power outside

So that you don’t suddenly run out of juice while working outdoors, you should either work in close enough vicinity to a power socket or help yourself out with an extension cable. To ensure that your phone always has a full battery, a charging pad is a good idea. With a headset, you can handle calls and video conferences professionally, not disturb your neighbours with noise and listen to some good music.

Drink a lot and have a snack to hand

Especially in summer, it is extremely important to keep well hydrated. So always make sure to take a carafe of water outside with you. When you start to feel a little peckish, it’s best to snack on an energy bar or a few nuts. These will fill you up and are healthy too.
