  1. Turn a square napkin so that it is facing upwards with the flaps facing away from you.
  2. Fold each flap over with a margin of about 1 cm towards the edges.
  3. Continue in the same way until you have folded down all the flaps.
  4. Then fold both corner edges backwards.
  5. When you have folded in all the edges, you will have the shape of a fir tree.
  6. Finally, fold each flap inwards to form the different layers of the branches.

How to fold a Christmas cutlery case from a napkin

Another classic variation is the simple napkin pocket. First fold one half of the napkin slightly downwards. With a simple movement, turn the napkin over and fold the two long sides so that they meet in the centre. Now you can put the cutlery in the resulting pouch! Tie a ribbon around it to hold it together. Decorate the little bag with Christmas decorations of your choice, for example with a few fir branches and something sweet for after the meal.
