Terms and conditions for IKEA gift cards

1. General

  • These terms and conditions for IKEA gift cards apply to gift cards purchased directly from IKEA online or at an IKEA store. These terms and conditions apply analogously to IKEA refund cards issued in physical or digital format as credit for a returned product or a buy-back offer, or as compensation. In all other respects, the General Terms and Conditions of Business of IKEA AG apply.
  • Different rules may apply to gift cards provided by partners. In this case, please refer to the terms and conditions of the respective partner.

2. Payment methods and delivery when purchasing an IKEA gift card

  • Purchase on account is not possible, nor is payment with existing gift or refund cards.
  • The electronic gift card will be sent to the email address provided after the payment process.

3. Use of IKEA gift cards

  • IKEA gift cards issued in Switzerland can be redeemed at all IKEA stores in Switzerland, at IKEA.ch, in the Swiss version of the IKEA App and in the following countries:
    • 19-digit gift cards and a PIN are accepted outside Switzerland in the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain*, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States. *except in stores on Mallorca, Menorca, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife
    • 16-digit alphanumeric redemption codes and a 19-digit reference number are accepted outside Switzerland in the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States."
  • To pay with a physical gift card, the full card number and PIN must be legible. Damaged or illegible cards will not be accepted.
  • To pay with the IKEA gift card in one of our IKEA stores, it must be presented or scanned at the checkout. When making a purchase online or in the IKEA App, the card number and PIN or redemption code are entered in the payment step.
  • IKEA gift cards cannot be used to pay credit card bills or for IKEA Business account payments.
  • The gift card credit balance can be used for full or partial payments. Any leftover balance will remain on the gift card. If the balance on the gift card is insufficient to cover the total purchase amount, the difference can be paid using another payment method (except purchase on account). Any remaining credit will not be paid out in cash.
  • The gift card balance cannot be transferred to new cards. 

4. Validity, loss, liability

  • The gift card balance will be issued in CHF. No interest will be paid on the credit balance.
  • If the IKEA gift card does not have an expiry date, it will remain valid for 10 years from the date of activation or the last top-up, after which the balance will expire. 
  • You can check the expiry date and current credit balance at your local IKEA store, online at IKEA.ch, in the IKEA App or by phone.
  • The IKEA gift card is non-personal and transferable. It can be topped up if the balance is zero.
  • In the event of loss, theft or damage, neither the IKEA gift card nor the remaining balance will be replaced by IKEA.
  • The gift card cannot be exchanged for cash.
