IKEA Family terms and conditions

Valid from 3 September 2025

1. Scope

These terms and conditions apply to IKEA Family membership, participation in the rewards from IKEA Family programme and use of the online profile for IKEA Family at IKEA.ch in connection with IKEA Family (‘IKEA Family profile’) in Switzerland. IKEA Family, Rewards from IKEA Family and the website IKEA.ch are operated in Switzerland by IKEA AG, Müslistrasse 16, 8957 Spreitenbach (‘IKEA Switzerland’). When a user becomes an IKEA Family member and creates an IKEA Family profile, they are thereby accepting these IKEA Family terms and conditions.

IKEA Switzerland reserves the right to update these IKEA Family terms and conditions at any time. The current version can always be accessed at IKEA.ch.

2. Your IKEA Family profile

Any individual who is at least 18 years old and resident in Switzerland or a bordering country can create their own IKEA Family profile with IKEA Switzerland and become an IKEA Family member with IKEA Switzerland. An IKEA Family profile is unique to the individual and cannot be used by multiple people or transferred to someone else. It is not possible to combine multiple IKEA Family profiles. Each individual may only create one IKEA Family profile. There is no charge for becoming an IKEA Family member or participating in the rewards from IKEA Family programme.

A valid email address is required when creating an IKEA Family profile. This email address is linked to the IKEA Family profile and used to log into the profile. Each email address can only be linked to one IKEA profile.

IKEA Family profiles created before 3 September 2025 that do not require an email address to log in can still be used as normal, but participation in the rewards from IKEA Family programme will not be possible.

IKEA Family is not intended for commercial use. Businesses are welcome to join our IKEA Business Network instead. If an email address has been used to create an IKEA Family profile, it cannot also be used to create an IKEA Business Network profile.

An IKEA Family profile created in line with the terms and conditions set out here is deemed to be an ‘active IKEA Family profile’ and participation in the rewards from IKEA Family programme will be activated automatically.

IKEA Family members are expected to keep their email address and other contact details up to date in their IKEA Family profile by recording any changes straight away and must keep their password secret at all times. Every IKEA Family member is responsible for all activity in and updates to their own membership profile. IKEA Switzerland does not accept any responsibility for the accuracy of details entered by IKEA Family members.

We process your personal data for the purpose of providing your IKEA Family profile and all of the associated benefits and activity. You can read all about how we process your data and what your rights are in our privacy policy

3. IKEA Family benefits

Rewards from IKEA Family programme. You can find the list of all the current benefits and read more about them in your IKEA Family profile at  and at en.IKEA.ch/family. You can only access these benefits if you have an active IKEA Family profile.

4. Rewards from IKEA Family

4.1. Collecting points when you shop

You can collect points when you spend at least CHF 5 in one transaction at one of our IKEA stores, Swedish restaurants, Swedish Bistros, Swedish Food Markets or IKEA Plan and Order Points or when placing an order over the phone, within our IKEA App or online at IKEA.ch. You earn one point for every CHF 5 you spend. The amount used to calculate the number of points you collect is the total you have spent on IKEA products and IKEA services after all discounts and vouchers have been applied.

When you shop at an IKEA store and both take products with you immediately and place orders, you pay for all products together at the checkout and receive a receipt for your purchase. However, your points will be credited separately, depending on the purchase value and when you collect or receive the products:

  • Products that you have placed in your shopping trolley yourself and paid for at the checkout will be credited according to the purchase value within 48 hours after the payment process in the IKEA store.
  • Products that you ordered via goods collection, Click & Collect, mobile pick-up station or delivery and paid for at the checkout will be credited according to the respective purchase value within 48 hours after collection or delivery.

Please note: The points are processed and credited individually by the system and listed accordingly in your points history.

You do not collect points when you buy gift cards. IKEA services are booked and paid for through IKEA. You cannot collect points on any services that you book and/or pay for through a third-party provider. IKEA Switzerland reserves the right to change the rules for collecting points on shopping at any time or to stop offering the option to collect points on shopping altogether at any time.

4.2. Collecting points when you take action

You also earn points when you create an IKEA Family profile, log into your IKEA Family profile, create and save a wish list, book and attend a planning appointment (not including our Interior Design Service) and take other similar actions. The number of points you collect for taking these actions – and how often you can collect them – varies from action to action.

You can find further details about the actions you can collect points for, the exact number of points you can collect and how often you can collect points for specific actions in your IKEA Family profile online or on the IKEA App. IKEA Switzerland reserves the right to change the rules for collecting points when you take actions at any time or to stop offering the option to collect points when you take actions altogether at any time.

4.3. Requirements for collecting points

You will only be able to collect points for shopping online and taking actions if you are logged into your IKEA Family profile and/or the IKEA App when you take an action or place your order. When you are shopping at an IKEA store, you need to present your IKEA Family membership card at the checkout – by scanning it or having it scanned – so the points can be added to your total.

It is not possible to add points you could have collected on your shopping or actions later if you did not declare your IKEA Family membership at the time – even if you present your receipt or any other proof.

4.4. Updating your points total

Points will be added to your IKEA Family profile within 48 hours of you shopping with us or taking an action. Please note that if you place an order for delivery, your points will not be added to your account until the full order has been paid for and delivered.

If you decide to make use of the IKEA return policy, any points you collected on the items you are returning will be deducted from your points total. If you have already selected a new reward in the meantime, you might end up with a minus points total. This total will build up again automatically when you next collect more points by shopping with us or taking actions. As long as we do not have any reason to suspect misuse or fraud, we will not take any action in response to minus points totals.

4.5.  Points

You can check your points history; your current points total and your available rewards from IKEA Family at any time in your IKEA Family profile.

Collected points cannot be reimbursed, transferred or exchanged for cash. Points can only be exchanged for rewards from IKEA Family, which are available in your IKEA Family profile. Collected points are valid for 18 months from the day on which they were added to your IKEA Family profile. Points will expire automatically after 18 months.

IKEA Switzerland will send you one reminder email before your points expire. This reminder will be sent to the email address linked to your IKEA Family profile around three months before your points expire. IKEA Switzerland accepts no liability for expired points.

4.6. Redeeming collected points

Once you have collected enough points, all the relevant rewards from IKEA Family across different categories will automatically become available in your IKEA Family profile. Examples of rewards include:

  • discounts on furniture and accessories
  • discounts in the Swedish restaurant, Swedish Bistro and Swedish Food Market
  • discounts on standard/curbside delivery

You can select your reward from IKEA Family from the options available to you. The corresponding number of points will then be deducted from your points total, and you will receive an email containing your personalised reward coupon code. Reward coupons are valid for 30 days from receipt.

If you change your mind, you can cancel the reward coupon you selected within 30 days of receiving the IKEA Family reward coupon by email. The points will then be added to your IKEA Family profile again. You need to contact our customer service team if you wish to cancel a reward coupon. You must make contact during business hours on or before the last day on which the coupon is valid.

IKEA Switzerland can change the available rewards from IKEA Family at any time. Log into your IKEA Family profile anytime to find out which rewards from IKEA Family are available to you and how many points you need for each reward.

4.7. Redeeming reward coupons

Reward coupons are valid for 30 days after you receive them and can only be redeemed once. If a reward coupon is redeemed for an order and this order is then cancelled after the reward coupon has expired, the reward coupon cannot be refunded for technical reasons and will expire without replacement.

For technical reasons, this is also true when you have used a coupon on an order that you go on to cancel. In this case, it is not possible to refund the points.

You can redeem your reward coupon on our website IKEA.ch, on the IKEA App, in our IKEA stores, at our IKEA Plan and Order Points and on orders placed over the phone.

When you’re shopping online on our website IKEA.ch or on the IKEA App, placing orders over the phone or using one of our IKEA Plan and Order Points, you can only redeem one reward coupon per order. Your available reward coupons will be displayed in your shopping bag online and you just need to select the one you would like to apply.

When you’re shopping at an IKEA store, you can redeem multiple reward coupons across different categories. You must show your reward coupons at the checkout – either as a printout or on your phone screen – so they can be scanned.

Reward coupons cannot be used to pay for or receive a discount on IKEA gift cards. Reward coupons cannot be combined with any other discounts or vouchers from IKEA Switzerland. Reward coupons will not be paid out in cash.

Additional terms and conditions about redeeming rewards are provided with the rewards in your IKEA Family profile.

5. What should I do if I no longer want to be an IKEA Family member?

You can remove your IKEA Family membership in your profile settings at any time. After you have removed your membership, you will no longer be able to access IKEA Family benefits or rewards from IKEA Family. Any active benefits, collected points, unlocked rewards from IKEA Family and reward coupons in your profile at the point at which you remove your IKEA Family membership will disappear and you will not be able to redeem them anymore. There is no option of transferring them to someone else.

6. What happens when an IKEA Family member dies?

When we have seen proof (death certificate), the IKEA Family profile will be deleted. Collected points, unlocked rewards from IKEA Family and reward coupons are not transferred. They simply disappear and there is no right to claim compensation.

7. Cancellation of IKEA Family by IKEA Switzerland

IKEA Switzerland has the right to cancel every IKEA Family membership and in turn delete every IKEA Family profile with immediate effect at its discretion if there is reason to believe that the profile was created using falsified data, the activity associated with the profile is unlawful or in violation of these terms and conditions or the IKEA Family profile is being misused in some way. In any such case, the IKEA Family profile, collected points, available rewards and reward coupons will be deleted and/or deactivated. If an individual’s membership is cancelled and their IKEA Family profile is deleted, they do not have any right to make any legal claims against IKEA Switzerland (e.g. for compensation, readmission or any other benefit or service).

Inactive IKEA Family profiles will be deleted, and the associated membership will be cancelled.

8. Cancellation of the Rewards from IKEA Family programme by IKEA Switzerland

IKEA can cancel the Rewards from IKEA Family programme at any time as long as three months’ notice is given. All collected points and available rewards will still be valid until they expire (18 months). You will still be able to redeem reward coupons before they expire.

9. Liability

IKEA Switzerland’s liability on all legal grounds is limited to direct damage caused deliberately or due to gross negligence. Any further liability, including for indirect damage, consequential damage and loss of earnings, is excluded. IKEA Switzerland does not accept any liability for incorrect or missing information in the IKEA Family profile, on the IKEA Switzerland website, in brochures or in the newsletter. IKEA Switzerland does not accept any liability in the event that the IKEA Family profile is temporarily unavailable for technical reasons or due to necessary maintenance work. IKEA Switzerland shall not be held liable for any misuse of the IKEA Family profile, collected points, rewards from IKEA Family or reward coupons by IKEA Family members or third parties. This holds true in particular when unauthorised parties gain access to an IKEA Family profile.

10. Final provisions

Swiss law applies exclusively. The place of jurisdiction is Spreitenbach. In the event of ambiguities or contradictions between the German, French, Italian and English versions of these IKEA Family terms and conditions, the German version takes precedence.
