What is IKEAs return policy?

Your satisfaction with your IKEA purchase is important to us. Unopened IKEA products can be returned within 365 days. Once your product has been opened, you have 60 days to try certain products at home. Conditions and exclusions apply. Depending on the assessed condition of the product, IKEA will provide either a full refund back to the original payment method or to an IKEA Returns Card. Proof of purchase is required to make a return.

You can only return or exchange products bought from IKEA Australia stores, via remote shopping or from the IKEA Australia website. If you have bought your IKEA products abroad, these cannot be returned in IKEA Australia. If you want to exchange an item, you need to return it first and then make a new purchase.
You can return any unopened, unused IKEA product within 365 days for a full refund. Please bring your proof of purchase so we can process your return. Certain products can be tested within a 60-day period. You may open and assemble the product to try it at home. Conditions and exclusions apply. To return certain opened IKEA products, you must keep all packaging and your proof of purchase. You will be issued with in-store credit to an IKEA Returns Card based on the assessed condition.
You can return or exchange all unused and unopened IKEA products within 365 days, except for food or drink, certain perishable product(s), gift cards, and custom-made products. There must not be any obvious signs of damage, stains or marks on the item.
Returned products are subject to assessment by an IKEA co-worker to ensure they are in acceptable condition. For unopened items, a full refund will be issued to your original payment method. For opened items returned under our 60 day test and try, a refund will be issued to an IKEA Returns Card. The refundable amount may be reduced based on the assessed condition. Any modifications, such as drilling holes, painting, or removing parts will not be eligible for return or exchange. Such changes will void the guarantee as it no longer functions the way it was designed and may have ruined the integrity of the product.
