Here’s what you need

Scattered items on a dark-wood surface, including SVÄRDFISK scissors, a SUSIG cork desk pad, a paper roll and RÖDALM frames.

Start with pen and paper to prepare your photo wall

  • Place your photo frame on the roll of paper and trace around it with a pencil.
  • Remove the photo frame from the paper and cut out the template.
  • Decide whether you want to hang the photo frames horizontally or vertically.
  • Measure the distance from the top edge of the frame to the hook.
  • Then make the same measurement on the paper and mark it with a pencil. This is where the hook should go to hang the photo frame.
  • Create a separate template with markings for each size of photo frame. This way, you'll know exactly where to drill a hole or stick a hook.

How high should photo frames be on the wall?

First: it doesn't really matter how high you hang your photo frames. It's about what you like. We recommend a minimum height of 145 cm. Go find a layout you like.

From sketch to reality: how to hang posters or pictures on the wall

First, try out different layouts on the floor.

  • Place the templates on the floor and move them around until you find a beautiful collage.
  • Tape the templates to the wall to double-check if you're happy with the chosen layout.
  • Step back and view the arrangement from a distance.
  • Completely satisfied? Then make a hole in the wall at the marked spot.
  • Once the hooks or nails are in place, carefully remove all the paper templates.
  • And now comes the fun part: hanging your photo frames.
  • Use a level to make sure everything is straight.

Hanging posters and pictures without drilling

Don't want to damage your wall with drill holes? Then self-adhesive hooks are the ideal solution. They stick firmly to the wall without the need for nails or screws. The self-adhesive hooks can support a maximum weight of 2 kg. Once the hooks or nails are in place, carefully remove all the paper templates. And now comes the fun part: hanging your photos! Use a level to make sure everything is straight.
