Serious food safety, quality, and user safety concernRonaldI washed this chopping board by hand with only clean water before first use, and wooden splinters immediately came out all over the surface — on both sides. No detergent, no brush, no scrubbing.
This is not just a quality issue but a serious food safety and user safety concern. The splinters are sharp, make the board painful to hold, and one even pierced into my skin. I cannot imagine preparing food on this.
After checking the IKEA website, I found many other customers reporting the same problem. This product is not fit for purpose and should not be sold as a food-contact item. I strongly advise others not to buy this chopping board.
Tiny wood pieces/splinters all over the board after the first wash.ArdaI bought this board from the store and I must say I really like it's size, design, and price. I came home I gave it a wash by hand. And wow... wooden splinters all over the board. This is such a shame. I can't imagine what would happen if I really chopped food on it. I don't think I'll ever buy a chopping board from IKEA again.
