Rent a trailer

Price:

First 3 hours are free
You pay 5.- for each additional hour.

Necessities:

A driver's license that's valid in the Netherlands
Your car is equipped with a tow bar.

How it works:

Book the trailer via the Freetrailer app or website. If trailers are available, you can arrange this on-site. Do you want to reserve in advance to be sure of a trailer? Then you pay a small fee of 5.-
Detach the trailer in the IKEA car park via Bluetooth. Open the app and click on 'detach' to activate the electronic lock and disconnect the trailer.
Finished? Return the trailer to the same IKEA store where you picked it up. Make sure you park it in the designated Freetrailer space.
End the rental in the app so the lock engages. Then confirm in the app that the trailer has been returned.
Payment is automatically processed at the end of the rental, based on the duration and any selected options.

Rent a van

Price:

24.50 per hour and € 0.45 per driven kilometer

Registration fee is 10.- (one time only). You will get this amount back as a discount with your first reservation if you register via the KAV2GO registration kiosk at an IKEA store with your IKEA Family account*.

A valid Dutch driver's license

How it works:

You rent the bus from KAV2GO. The buses are in the IKEA parking garage. Arrange your rental bus in advance via this link or call the KAV Shared Sales Centre 088 - 088 3434 daily from 08.00 - 24.00.
Register at the kiosk at the Customer Service area in store*.
Make sure the tank is at least half full when you return the van. There is a card available in every van you can use to refuel. You don't have to pay for this.

Frequently asked questions about rental

There are a number of conditions that apply when renting a trailer.

You must be at least 18 years old and hold a driving licence (category B).

The trailer must be returned to the same location where you rented it within the store's opening hours.

Our rental conditions for trailers apply to the rental agreement.

A tow bar is required due to the weight of the trailer.

The trailer must remain within the Netherlands.

The maximum rental period is 7 days.

Tip: If you open the 'Product Information' tab under the product image on IKEA.nl, you can see the packaging dimensions and weight of the product. This way, you can check before your visit if a product will fit in your car!

You pay 5.- for each additional hour.

You pay a maximum of 29.- per 24 hours.

You pay an extra 5.- if you choose to reserve in advance. This is optional.

You can choose an optional insurance of 7.- per day. The insurance expires after 24 hours.

You do not need to pay a deposit.Payment is automatically processed when the rental is stopped via the payment method you registered in advance during booking in the app. The amount is based on the duration and any selected extra options.
If you rent a trailer from IKEA, it has the following specifications:

The internal dimensions of the trailer (LxWxH) are 258x148x157 cm, and the external dimensions are 401x191x220 cm (LxWxH).

The maximum load capacity of the enclosed trailer is 340 kg (total weight 751 kg).
Don't have a car to transport your purchases? At IKEA Groningen you can rent a cargo bike as well. It costs €2.50 (IKEA Groningen) per hour. It is not possible to reserve a cargo bike in advance.

The following conditions apply to the rental of a cargo bike:

You can use the cargo bike for a maximum of 3 hours.

We require a deposit of €100.-

You can only rent a cargo bike on presentation of valid proof of identity.

You can only rent a cargo bike if this is necessary for transporting your IKEA purchases.

For IKEA Groningen, there are several additional conditions for renting a cargo bike. Ask about these at the customer service desk.
