How do I put together an IKEA divan bed?

You can choose for an existing combination on IKEA.nl, or you can design your own divan bed combination by making use of the online bed planner. If you would rather have some help with choosing the right divan bed, our skilled employees are happy to help you in your favorite IKEA store.

With our wide range of options, it’s possible to put together a divan bed that completely meets your sleeping needs and design wishes. There are several sizes available. You can choose a single divan bed of 90 x 200 cm, or choose one of the double divan bed options, the available sizes are 140 x 200 cm, 160 x 200 cm and 180 x 200 cm. 

For putting together a divan bed you will always need the ESPEVÄR mattress base. You can use this base in two ways: 

  1. In combination with an ENGAVÅGEN spring core, you will get a sprung mattress base. You cannot buy the ENGAVÅGEN spring core separately in our online store. 

  1. If you choose not to use a spring core you can use it as frame with a slatted base. 

You also have the choice to combine the ESPEVÄR divan bed, with or without a headboard. If you choose to have a headboard for your divan bed, you have the following options: 

  • ARNAVIK  (sold without a cover, it can be combined with covers from the DUNVIK series) 

  • MJÖLVIK (sold without a cover, there are several covers to choose from in the MJÖLVIK series) 

When you choose to have no headboard, you will need the ESPEVÄR covers. 

After you chose the right size and look for your divan bed, it’s time to choose the right mattress and topper. Our website indicates for each divan bed, which mattress can be combined with the divan bed. 

And finally you get to choose between different types of legs, to completely finish the look of the design you’re after!
