What is IKEA's policy on genetically modified foods?
IKEA avoids the use of genetically modified ingredients (GMO’s) in all the food products. We are working hard to ban all GMO’s from the entire production chain, and to include this as a standing policy in our code of conduct for all suppliers.
We value the well-being of humans and animals very highly. By working closely with all kinds of interest organizations in this field, we hope to realize fundamental improvements.
At this moment we are nearly certain that the IKEA food products, do not contain any genetically modified ingredients, but we cannot yet provide this certainty with regard to all the animal food used by our suppliers. We are taking on the challenge to also completely ban GMO’s from this part of our production chain. We do realize we still need to take some steps with our suppliers to move into that direction.
