Can I make a warranty claim?

All our products are thoroughly tested before they are put on the market. Have you discovered a defect in the product? In most cases you can make a claim under our warranty. We are happy to help you with this.

Term
At IKEA you can count on guaranteed quality. You are in any case entitled to a 2-year warranty on almost all purchases at IKEA from the day of purchase. Some products have a longer warranty period.
The warranty period counts from the moment you purchase the product. Have you ordered the product? Then the warranty period starts from the moment you receive the product.
Kitchen appliances are an exception to this; for them, the warranty period starts at the time of purchase.

Proof of purchase
Proof of purchase is required to make a claim under our warranty. Proof of purchase is, for example, a receipt, order confirmation, or bank statement, so that we can find the proof of purchase.

Conditions

  • The claim is about a purchase made at IKEA Netherlands.
  • The defect may only have arisen during normal domestic use.
  • The defect is not the result of normal wear and tear, normal use, or normal aging of the product.
  • You report the complaint to us within 2 months after discovering the defect.

IKEA products
On our website you will find an overview of all current warranty provisions and on the product page of your product you will find the warranty period.

No or limited warranty is offered on the following items:

  • Plants
    Some plants are more sensitive than others. For example, wind, temperature and (air) humidity can have an effect on the lifespan of your new green friend. We cannot therefore indicate in advance how long your plant will remain beautiful and we do not offer a warranty on our range of plants.​​​​​​
  • IKEA Food
    No warranty applies to purchases from our Swedish Food Market, the IKEA Bistro, the IKEA Restaurant or other food items available in the store.
  • Purchases from the Second Chance Corner
    You get a standard warranty of 2 years on all purchases in IKEA's Second Chance Corner. Any longer terms in our warranties do not apply. The warranty expires on the reason why the article is in the Second Chance Corner; you will find this reason on the sticker of the product.

IKEA services
We offer a 1-year warranty on our furniture assembly service and a 5-year warranty on our kitchen and bathroom installation services. The installation of taps and sealant are excluded from this: a warranty of 1 year applies.
In addition, an exception applies to the assembly and installation of the Klusup platform; the warranty for this is determined by the platform itself.
