IKEA Korea launches ‘Let’s Play for Change’ campaign to promote the importance of play

‘Soft Toy Drawing Competition’ to be held from November 3 to November 11
As a part of this year’s campaign, five different playing stations will be set up throughout the stores under the campaign’s main play themes - ‘Play to connect ’, ‘Play to recharge’, ‘Play to escape’, ‘Play to explore’ and ‘Play to create’ – allowing customers of all ages to play and enjoy their time together in the IKEA stores. Customers will also have a chance to donate an IKEA soft toy to a local charity, by purchasing two soft toys and placing one in the donation box near the checkout area.
IKEA Korea will also host a ‘Soft Toy Drawing Competition’ from November 3 to November 11 at IKEA Gwangmyeong and Goyang, providing children the opportunity to design their own soft toys based on their ideas and creativity. Children under 12 years of age of any IKEA FAMILY member can participate in the competition.
To celebrate the competition this year, a limited edition of SAGOSKATT Collection soft toys—consisting of five unique soft toys selected from the 87,000 participants from last year’s competition—will be launched. Contestants from South Korea were selected as final winners for the last two years, and this year’s SAGOSKATT Collection will include the winning design of Ji-min Park from South Korea. The turnover from SAGOSKATT Collection will be donated to support children’s right to play, through Save the Children’s project “Keep the Playground,” which aims to develop children’s potential by providing a safe play environment. More information about the Soft Toy Drawing Competition is available on IKEA Korea’s Soft Toy Drawing Competition website.
André Schmidtgall, IKEA Korea Country Retail Manager said, “With this year’s ‘Let’s Play for Change’ campaign, we aim to enable all children and adults alike to experience and realise the importance and joy of play, and to pave way for children to explore their full potential through play,” adding, “we hope that the many visitors of IKEA Gwangmyeong and Goyang will have a chance to experience different play activities and feel how play is so closely in touch with our everyday lives.”
IKEA works to raise awareness of every child’s right to play, as recognised by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), and encourage people—children and adults alike—to play as much as possible. More information on the ‘Let’s Play for Change’ campaign can be found on the IKEA Korea website, available from November 2.
