IKEA Korea hosts IKEA FAMILY Day

Children can participate in designing the next IKEA soft toy
As part of the IKEA FAMILY Day, asoft toy drawing competition offers a chance for children to partner with IKEA in the co-creation of soft toys from November 3 to 16. IKEA invites children across the globe to design their own soft toy. Twenty dream soft toys will be selected in Korea and sent to Sweden, where a total of ten winners out of all globally received drawings will be chosen based on uniqueness and commercial potential. The real toys will be created and launched as limited collection the next year.
In celebration of the first IKEA soft toy drawing competition in Korea, IKEA Korea will select one of the winners from Korea for an opportunity to visit Sweden next spring.
Furthermore, during IKEA FAMILY Day, visitors can learn how to play the games with LATTJO (the Swedish word for “fun”),a newly launchedplay collection that inspires both young and old to play more together. It has a wide range of games and toys, spanning from active play via indoor and role play to music, a recipe book for play and an app for being together even when apart there’s nothing stopping the coming winter from being a really fun one!
There will be also other various workshops on assembly, holiday decoration and various food offers at the store during IKEA FAMILY Day.
André Schmidtgall, country retail manager at IKEA Korea said, “IKEA soft toy drawing competition is a unique opportunity to not only to let your creativity loose but to partner with IKEA in a meaningful way.” He added, “We hope families will be able to have an ultimate fun experience at IKEA FAMILY Day, and get more inspiration to find new ways to play at home.”
Meanwhile, the soft toy drawing competition is a part of a larger campaign called the IKEA soft toy campaign, which aims to create more educational opportunities for children living in poverty. IKEA partners with UNICEF and Save the Children every year by donating €1 for every soft toy sold in participating IKEA stores to provide more educational opportunities for children living in poverty. Since the start of the campaign in 2003, IKEA has donated EUR 77 million to create more opportunities for 11 million children.
